    1. Begin your genre study by putting your name on a Circle of Genres Tracker.  
    2. Choose a genre from the circle and find a book from that genre.  Read or listen to the book.  Write the book title on the tracker and color that section of the circle leaving the genre and book title uncolored.  Take an Accelerated Reader test on the book if it has one and you want to take it.
    3. Decide if you want to do a response project for the book you just read, or if you would like to move on to a different genre.  If you choose to do a project, look at the product choice list and sample projects in the center for ideas.  Then complete a project of your choice.
    4. Put finished and unfinished work in your class folder. Make sure your name is on all pieces of your work. 
    5. You will probably need to visit this center many times to complete it.  Once you have completed three different response products for three books of different genres and the entire circle of genres tracker is filled in, you will be ready for the last step.
    6. There is a SELF-EVALUATION on the back of your CIRCLE of GENRES Tracker.  Complete it now.  Bring the completed tracker (both sides done) to me along with your three response projects.
    7. OPTIONAL:  Now that you are a genre expert, pick your favorite genre and create a learning center about that genre that will fit in a bag or a box.  Then invite other students to use your learning center.
