Fourth grade had just ended and there was no one to babysit me for the summer so my parents had made the choice to send me to summer camp but this time i wasnt hesitant about going i was actually really excited because i knew i some of my friends from school were going to be there and i was right to be excited because i had a great time those 4 weeks at camp but after that month of camp i had to go to different camp because there was still a good amount of time left in summer and that camp had ended so my mom put me at fairfield parks and rec camp at stratfield elementary school and i was given the chance to spend the next 2 weeks hanging out with kids from different schools and it was another awesome experience as i found these new people that i was able to connect with and make new friendships.

My first day of third grade was scary for me I had just moved to Fairfield in the late summer and didn't know anybody just like joining football it was the fear of the unknown that plagued me but this time unlike my first day of football I didn't have a choice to back out because my mom had already dropped me off and I was on my own having to survive my first day of school at Jennings. leading up to class as the seconds ticked down I grew more and more scared. I felt alone and isolated with the fear of sitting there alone all day I had missed my mom like every little kid and whose scared but once the day started I found out I wasn't the only new kid and throughout the day I met a lot of new friendly people and some of those classmates became lifelong friends, but as i grew older friends grow apart and people meet new people but that doesn't diminish how happy and grateful i am for coming to Fairfield and having that new kid at school experience. Without that experience I wouldn't have met all of those great people from my childhood, no matter if they're still my friends or not.

It was a late summer afternoon. I had just gotten back from summer camp a few days before and it was the first time I was going to one of my football practices. I was friends with a few of the other incoming freshmen that I knew would be there so I wouldn't be alone but going into it I was still a little nervous because it was a new experience for me. As I got to the field that night I stood there an hour before practice contemplating if I really wanted to do this because I was scared for some reason that I wasn't going to like it or I wasn't going to like the people i was going to be playing with but now looking back on those few minutes I spent standing there questioning if I really wanted to enter this new unknown I now know that I was stupid to almost let those fears hold me back from finding so many new friends and the group of people that are now like my second family. After that small window of indecisiveness I made my decision to stay and that choice to stay and try this new experience was the right one because throughout that season there were upperclassmen who helped us out and taught us a lot and by the end of it our class had made a real bond and going into the next year even though a lot of my freshman teammates quit the ones that stayed are still there with each other. Even in times where I've felt like quitting football it's been that group of friends that have kept me going and that's why I'm grateful that I made the decision to just try something new because there's a whole family of friends I would have never met if I had gone home that summer afternoon.
