Something that resonated with me was the importance of providing feedback using growth minded language as well as the importance of explicitly teaching growth mindset.   I placed a copy of this page in your box.  More to come about growth mindset. ]]> 2017-10-30 23:06:24 UTC https://padlet.com/amireles/s9bcy2ztxmvr/wish/201959692 Launching Leaders Tickets amireles https://padlet.com/amireles/s9bcy2ztxmvr/wish/201961031 Please remember to recognize students for demonstrating the three R's.  All you need to do is fill out a Launching Leaders ticket.  The main purpose is to acknowledge and encourage the behavior we expect to see from students.  The impact is not what makes the difference, but the communication.  Please remember to be specific and state the behavior you are recognizing and connect it back to the three Rs.  For instance, "Johnny, thank for you getting to class on time which looks like being inside the classroom when the bell rings.  I really appreciate you being so responsible today.  I can't wait to see that behavior again tomorrow." Research says that behavior will improve just by pointing out what students are doing correctly.

Katrina is collecting and tracking who gets the LL tickets and who is giving them out.  We have some grade levels that are doing a great job acknowledging students!  Keep it up!

We have a high number of students Chronically absent and tardy. we are implementing multiple preventative measures and interventions as you know.  Katrina will be starting a group for the truant tardy students (good idea Susan!) soon. Please remember to share your attendance concerns with parents during your conferences. You all have a few chronically absent students in your classes. Try it! you will be hooked!

Parent Conferences is a time to celebrate your students’ academic and emotional growth with their families. Use this opportunity to share examples of how you are building a classroom community with the Social Contract, good things, and affirmations.  Open with a positive story about their child or reasons that you appreciate that their child is part of your class family.  Parents are reassured when they know that their child is part of a safe, caring classroom.  It’s okay to give yourself some credit for making this a priority in your classroom.  Celebrate your hard work as it shines through in your students.
