The cartoon D drawn by Clay Bennett represents a woman who is pulling her curtains down. We still see her behind the blinds because they are replaced by the eye-popping blue logo of Facebook that contrasts with the black and white all around and that let us see her through the F . She seems worried probably because she feels observed by this social network which impacts her behaviour.

This illustration conveys the message that we can try to hide ourselves from social media, but in reality, we are always under their scrutiny and this has an impact on our behaviours because we become preoccupied by the lack of privacy that we have.

The second cartoon is a satire on how people tend to set social media stardom as the main goal of their lives detrimental to actually spending good time with their acquaintances or friends.
Dave Mercier aims to raise awareness on how the use of social networks has increased superficial relationships tenfold.
In the past, people created fake and shallow relationships to serve their interests, which is pretty much understandable (even if it's a bit of a sin). Nowadays, a bunch of insta/snapchat-addicts engender that kind of relationships toward exposing themselves even more.

Cartoon F is a caricatural cartoon which tackles people’s constant crave for perfection and obsession with their appearance. This cartoon is a false advertisement for masks which allow people to hide their flaws and show an altered version of themselves. The world depicted in this image is a dystopian world in which people are self-centered and obsessed with superficial stuff. People want to be shaped as the perfect version of themselves even if it implies to undergo plastic surgery. Indeed two women are having a conversation about the fact that their surgeon refused to give them the new face they asked for.On the other hand, one man in the cartoon isn’t wearing any mask, therefore people can see his real face without any filter, hence he becomes socially shunned as he was caught unmasked in a society in which even pets wear these selfie masks.

Through that caricature, the drawer criticizes the fact that people hide their low self-esteem thanks to filters and edited pictures on social media instead of facing or fighting their insecurities. He denounces this society which mocks and harasses people who don’t fit in or who aren’t like-minded. With the mask’s low price, the cartoonist proves how easy it is to lie about one's appearance and create an artificial image for others

CARTOON A
This cartoon which was drawn by Kushal, an Indian cartoonist shows a skeleton watching his laptop's screen. As far as we can identify his emotions and feelings, he seems quite depressed, quite distraught by something he sees on the screen. The skeleton is surrounded by cobwebs, outstreched all over the place, covering the table, the walls, even the skeleton himself . A mouse is facing the skeleton. Upon the table remains a pile of shabby books, with the word "pending" written on its left side.
The table is covered with black filthy stains. A lamp lits the room with a xanthous yellow light.
This is a dilapidated, neglected place.

There are two ways of interpretation of this comics. One is litteral, the other is rather abstract, figurative.

We could think that spending time watching a screen, by its addicyive aspect, snatches you from reality and thus, reduces the time you could spend taking care of your direct environment. Your living room is consequentially slowly turning into some pandemonium, and then, into a real neglected place.
Spending time on screens and on social media has a direct consequence : with time, it deteriorates the place in which you live.

Nevertheless, we could think that spending time on social media such as Facebook has a more pernicious and malevolent consequence. On social media, everything is somehow meant to be perfect. People post more photos when they know they look great. Everyone on social media is more or less worried about appearances. Indeed, your appearance or behaviors are standards that will bring you acceptance, or on the contrary, that will make you an outcast.

Therefore, everything is unnatural, but it still lowers one's self-esteem. Seing photos of friends hanging out, you will feel lonely in your chair, sitting in front of your laptop. Seing photos of beautiful landscapes, you will long for trips around the world. Seeing photos of good-looking people, you will feel AS ugly as a skeleton.
Those are potential consequences of spending time on social media. You start to ask yourself questions such as : "Why am I not looking like this ? Why don't I have all of this ?" You start complaining about your own life.
Facebook, Instagram and other social media could make you see your room as the one in the comics. It can really transform your world, making it less happy, less enjoyable, less satisfying.

To conclude, we should all be aware of the harmful and harmful effects of the use of social media. We should use them sparingly, and always try to like our own reality before liking others'.

Cartoon E: Léo Ravenel On this cartoon drawn by Pierre Brignaud who is a Canadian cartoonist, we can see in the background a huge boat, the famous Titanic, which is sinking in the sea. Titanic is the name of a real liner which sank in the North Atlantic Ocean in 1912. This story was then popularized by the movie “Titanic” in 1997. In the foreground, we can see a lot of people in the sea who are recording this disastrous event. Moreover, we can see that people are not looking at the scene but are mesmerized by their screens. What Pierre Brignaud wants to denounce through his cartoon is people’s addiction to their phones and mostly to social media. Indeed, in front of a dangerous death threat, they only care about sharing on social media the impressive shipwreck they have before their eyes instead of looking for a lifeboat to save their lives. To conclude, even if people are facing a fatal threat, they are unaware of the danger and their virtual life matters more than their real life.

The cartoon D, made by Pierre Brignaud, takes a critical look at social media. In the foreground, a woman is contemplating her reflection through her phone which represents a pond. This image is not too far-fetched from the famous myth of Narcissus. We definitely understand that Pierre Brignaud alludes to modern society.

Indeed, nowadays, with social media, people are so obsessed by their image that they are oblivious to the world around them. We can clearly see it thanks to this woman who is staring at her phone instead of looking at the beautiful scenery in the background. Thanks to social media, people become self-absorbed and self-centred.They don't think about the world around it.

Moreover, the fact that the woman is contemplating herself in the phone show how much people are glued to their phone and captivated by social media.

Even if this type of behaviour leads to the confidence of some who seek to correct their flaw, social media give us a distorted mirror of reality and can have a negative impact on our behaviour.

Here, the main flaw denounced is the fact of being addicted to social media and the narcissism that this kind of network provides.

Therefore, we can deduce that social media changes our behaviour a lot and that it is an ideal breeding ground for narcissist s and a harmful tool for others.
