It is an annual festival, held in Venice, Italy. It is said that the Carnival of Venice was started by one of the "Most Serene Republic victory" against the Patriarch of Aquileia, Ulrich of Treven in the year 1162.
However, under the King's Government of Austria, the festival was banned completely in 1797 and the use of masks became strictly prohibited. And it reappeared gradually in the nineteenth century, but only for short periods. For private parties, it has become an opportunity for artistic creations. After a long absence, the Carnival returned in 1979.
The redevelopment of the masks began as the pursuit of some Venetian university students for tourism.

A reveler, dressed as Diablos de Luzon, or Luzon Devils, during carnival celebrations in the village of Luzon, Spain, on February 6, 2016. The Diablos cover themselves in a mixture of soot and oil, and adorn their heads with black-stained bull horns as they parade throughout the village with cowbells clanging around their waists to expel the evil spirits. To make their appearance even more fearsome, the devils often carry fake teeth made out of raw potatoes. They dance around Luzon and smear their black grease on other revelers' faces. The only people free from the attack of the Diablos are those who dress up as “Mascaritas.” These are characters dressed in traditional women's clothing with their faces covered with a white cloth. To the beat of traditional music, the Diablos and Mascaritas parade throughout the village in the afternoon in this carnival tradition that is thought to have pre-Christian origins. #

In Italy, the carnivals are much like ours, on small streets. It also is the most 'heroic'. In tobago, they dance around the streets dressed in paint. In Belgium, clowns throw oranges... yeah, strange, but kinda cool... Anyway, in Tenerife, they have over-the-top costumes and basically have a Mardi Gras for a month.
