Hi, teacher I'm Insyirah from MRSM Kota Kinabalu. In my opinion, learning grammar really helps in writing a good delivery whether in essay questions or even when writing a story for instance. i think lots of people tend to forget that speaking isnt just about blurting words out at times, speaking is about the message that you want to deliver because it's the most basic form of communicaton. so basically it's also about the reader's or the listener's comprehension and that's where grammar butts in. grammar makes the sentence become more beautiful, more precise, clearer and sometimes it helps to set the vibe or emotion of the sentence so that the person receiving the sentence could understand completely what we were saying.

i think it is important because this will make sure other people understand what we are trying to convey.For instance,if we say, "I are reading Harry Potter" people might be confused whether it is " I am reading Harry Potter" or " We are reading Harry Potter" . In my opinion, grammar is important because it helps the speaker to appear more confident while delivering something and it will enhance our English skills. But grammar is not extra important while speaking in daily life as long as the listeners know what the speakers are trying to say. For example "I go to Japan last year". We can still understand from this phrase that the speaker went to Japan last year although the speaker use incorrect grammar. In conclusion, we dont have to be afraid to speak in English if we didn't really good at grammar because if you speak more, you will learn more. people usually say, "little by little, sooner it become mountain"

well everyone be saying that grammar is important but then i think when we are talking abt grammar in spoken english,i dont think you're necessarily need to be grammatically fluent when you speak bcause as longbas the other person understood what you're trying to deliber then it wouldn't be a problem.Grammar doesn't determine your fluency in speaking.Even some natives pun haven't mastered grammar yet so confidence is the key when it comes to speaking.Even me myself can speak but not with correct grammar lol.I'm writing this not to get the bookmark but im just trying to point out some views of mine and it's kinda annoyed me seeing 90% of people in here saying that grammar is SO important in spoken english.NO HATE HAHA.

Grammar are important . But for me i would denied it when its come to speaking especially for amatur. I think the most important matter in speaking is caurage. Because without caurage, you wont succeed, neither in speaking nor writing. The most important step in our life is taking the first step even it’s wrong. As one of the European influencer said the one who take the first step already win. While those who are still confining themselves are the loser. So, even if you manage to start speaking english even with wrong grammar, you have already won 🏆. Then you may take the second step which is improving those knowledge.

Based on my perspectives, I think the role of grammar is to decide how we want the sentence to determine the situation. It can also help others to understand your preferences based on what you are telling them. I know it's hard to combine grammar and speaking if you are not use to it. So you must going through step by step. Firstly, you must increase your speaking skill. Then, try to fit it with grammar.
