But when they get to this town Cherry see's right through their scheme and tells her father Boniface. He wants to swindle the 2 men by taking their money and using his daughter. As time goes on Cherry and Jack become infatuated with each other. The same goes for Tom and Dorinda. But than Jack meets Mrs. Sullen and becomes infatuated with her. When Tom pretends to be ill and tells Lady Bountiful his name is Robert she immediately sees through his facade and demands he leaves. Tom and Jack than learn that their loves are going to be robbed and go to rescue them. After the fighting and saving Dorinda and Tom planned to marry as do Sir Charles and Cherry and Jack and Kate.
