I will always strive to serve others and it is very important to be humble my heart while doing my job. I will always find greatness in service to school because it makes me happy .

Servant leader's principles lay the foundation for a mutual and harmonious student-teacher relationship. And for a teacher, when these principles are concretely observed by the students, of course with required parameters clearly set out to students, the objectives of the teaching-and-learning processes (including the affective and obligatory domains of student development) would certainly be achieved. Adoption then of servant leadership must be taken in balanced perspectives.

Still I remember those days when students used to tell, "Teacher I do this because I want you to feel happy"
When the community heard about it, it just claimed, that I am not making the students learn, instead I promote exchange of Happy feeling only.
May be my ego preferred to ignore those comments.
As a human I, always, apply self engineering on myself ( Who am I, What for I am here, how can I improve myself, How can I care for others, How can I help others to grow, IS there any chance for me to leave a legacy behind me ( this is something like, will my students forget me after this year of study or will they remember me in their life time as one of their teacher)
But when I came across with this "Servant leadership" I understood that these are not much different from what I am practising. So, what I am doing is my call. So, it turns out be natural. Everything lies on building a better relationship.
A community is a community only when there exist a relationship. If not all will be split into pieces. Individual pieces.
I don't have any formal procedures like step1, step2 .... to adopt. The principles of Servant leadership are our Heart and the heart to GOD. Follow Him and He will Lead you. Avoid "I" and love "WE" Then every moment will be a moment to praise the LORD.

As for me, I will adopt this concept slowly however I do believe I have been doing this servant leadership without knowing the proper term until now. As an example, I will sometimes gave authority to my students to decided their way of learning and assessment, as I will always told them their success is my success. I sometimes show servant leadership through my concern of their well being, I showed them I really care for them, mentally, their seriousness in learning, their academic progress, about how they actually really used their true potential to make sure they realises about the true capability. In this way, I knew the students knew my sincerity and they always understand and okay if I am strict to them or nagging at them if they did something wrong. As I always told them like my mantra "I am here to educate and work together with all of you to bring the best out all of you so that you can be the best among the best".

I have been implementing servant leadership to a certain degree within my classroom for quite sometime without being aware of the true definitions.
I believe that each child is unique with their own sets of dreams, goals and ambitions . A general mode of learning may give them the set degree but will not give them complete education.
It is important to know each child from a close proximity - identify their strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes, moments of their happiness and sadness. Then deal with the child accordingly. Encourage each child to invest on their strenghts, work on their weaknesses to heighten their potential, spend time together individually - knowing their aspirations - guide them to achieve the same which may be way beyond the clarity. I remember there was a student who wanted to be a fashion designer but the parents insisted that she take up Accountancy. To help the child in achieving her dreams, an aptitude test was performed and the results shared with the parents. The parents were not aware of the test and this helped them to finalize the career option for their child.

From experience, I apply this by empowering students to become leaders in the classroom, helping them to decide (as facilitator). I also model the basic values of the school in accordance to the school rules, mission and vision. Following authority can also be taught through modeling.

Mr. Deena: Servant Leadership emphasizes a leader who has the desire to serve others so that they can then develop themselves, and eventually develop others. When a teacher helps a child to develop, these children can then think for themselves, take care of themselves, and then help take care of others. e.g. the prefects, monitors in our school. The SSP program in our school is an example of servant leadership. Students those who are advanced in a certain subject, become volunteers to teach and help other students to improve their academic performance. Here we see the cycle of servant leadership. It is all started with a teacher that aided in a student’s ability to flourish knowledge in a given subject, and now this student is able to share their knowledge and help another student. For a teacher adopting servant leadership is important because: –Listening is important for teachers to understand the best way to communicate with their students. -Empathy is essential in understanding where their students come from. It may be difficult to reach students of much younger ages. -Healing for a teacher would be for them to take into account students school life and home life. If a student is not performing well in an area, they should be able to identify if it is a “learning problem” or maybe a personal problem. -Awareness may be hard for a teacher at times as they are expecting to make an impact on their students who are at a much younger age from them. They must work to provide information in their students “age context”. -Persuasion is probably the easiest for a teacher as students trust their teachers and are easily convinced when told to change something. -Conceptualization is a main characteristic for teaching, students must always have a set schedule on things that need to be learned to take students from grade to grade. -Foresight tells the students what they should expect to learn upfront from the class and how it will help them in the future.-Stewardship is the teachers’ oath about taking care of their students in both well-being and academics.–Commitment to the growth of people is how teachers must treat each student as an individual. Each student has their own strengths and weaknesses which must be addressed. –Building community is for a teacher to build a classroom atmosphere where their students will work together to, feel safe, and feel connected. As we can see, all of these servant leadership characteristics exist in good teachers. Teachers use them all because they want their students to grow into functional members of society. Members of society-that can then help others!

Teachers who are excellent servant leaders increase students' learning, because students grow in their personal values, interactions with classmates, classroom leadership and pedagogy, interactions with others, and desire and ability to build good school community.Teachers are an excellent example of the leaders in Servant Leadership. ... When a teacher helps a child develop, these children can then think for themselves, take care of themselves, and then help take care of others. Each grade that a student moves up, this becomes more and more obvious.

Like, notice the little things in the class room and listen their needs, try to see beyond what the student can see, listen more than you talk to them to understand their needs, stay real, be a learner, be approachable, be a model...... motivate the students and encourage them to be a successful student.
Servant leadership is indeed important to me as a teacher because we don't only teach but we care for our students. One source of our happiness to see our student's progress and development not only in academics but as a person. We play a critical role in our students life because we serve as their model hence we must be very careful on the message we are sending to our students.

Servant leadership is a principle that goes above and beyond the teaching field. It can go towards other parts a teachers life, like family, hobbies, and daily activities.

As teachers we are called to lead our students, but we normally don't think of serving them. Servant leadership requires humility and deep desire to serve others. So in order for servant leadership to work as teachers there needs to be a change in their mindset.

Teachers need to sacrifice time to listen to students, whether it is about their academics or family matters. Teachers sacrifice their weekends to prepare papers and lesson plans for the week. Teachers who serve in this way definitely makes a huge impact on the lives of their students. A teacher who serves others in this way impacts not only the lives of their students but the lives of others around them as well.

A perfect example of a servant leader is Jesus who showed this perfectly when he washed the feet of his disciples, showing that he is willing to serve those beneath him and instructing them to do the same to others. In this way, servant leaders make an impact that can create other servant leaders. The Bible says in Mark 10:42-45

42 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.

43 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,

44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.

45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
