I didn't realize that 12-13 year olds were the most vulnerable years of a child's development (although thinking about it now, it's almost self explanatory). I also learned that teachers need to take into account the shift in work loads kids receive from going between 7th-8th grades, especially if they're getting ready for high school.

I wonder if there is a social/emotional development distinctness between 12-13 year olds, considering 13 is considered beginning teen and 12 as the end of adolescence. Also because 7th grade is a weird middle between junior high and 8th grade.

I need to learn more (not that you need to add) about how artistic development actually varies between those who do/take art in middle school versus those who do not. Do preteens who do not further develop their art remain at a stage, like say before middle school? How would that affect their cognitive development I wonder. I wonder this for future research outside of this zine.

When reading through your zine I wonder why the moral reasoning is a social contract? And why the necessity of the utilitarian rules?

Praise- I love the way you decorated the zine, its very cohesive. I also really enjoy the how you laid out all the information on the pages, reminds me of out visual reflection journals.

Question- none.

Suggestion- don't be afraid to add more pages to help spread you information out, some of the pages looked crammed and since you did your digitally you have the ability to add more pages. Other than that nicely done.

I really loved your zine and hoow cohesive it is! It really feels accessible and I enjoyed all of your key words which can be easily remembered as a teacher. Learning information makes the complexity of middle school experiences and interacting with middle schools alot easier to understand. They are just at the beginning of a very complex journey of development and they need as much care, support and guidance as we can possibly give.

Praise: Very eye catching design, it feels age appropriate but also professional. There’s the perfect amount of information where there’s a lot to be learned, but there’s not an overwhelming amount of text to consume.

Questions: I honestly don’t have any at the moment, it seems very thorough and thought out.

Suggestions: Very small thing to consider, but if this was printed out at a smaller size the text may be a bit difficult to read, as it’s a bit small and white text on a yellow background. Again, a super small detail because it’s so successful already!

this is so well laid out and navigable! the focus on the stress of school style changing for middle school is great. context for emotional state and reaction is also really nice, they don't mean to be frustrated and being understanding of their frustration and patient with them seems like its the difference between being sure of themselves and growing up with self doubt. supper pretty pages too.
