He is also dressed in ripped clothes and torn down boots with a farming tool in his hand to support his walking. The second estate is behind the first one who is carrying the sward in his pants. You can tell by he is the middle class because he is not on the ground, but is behind the first.The first estate as you can see is wearing a cross around his neck and is in the front and not touching the ground. This puts our world into groups and separate parts which was not good for our community. All of this is a problem of how this cartoon is displaced with the jobs of each person. This portrays that he is a peasant who clearly struggles under the weight and oppression of the upper classes. This same cause was one of the key factors contributing to the third estate's dissatisfaction and ultimate uprising. Additionally, there is a clear display of pomp and extravagance from the members of the first and second estates. They seem comfortable with their privileged lives and are not at all concerned about the suffering they are inflicting. Similarly, the clergy and nobles turned a blind eye to the issues and struggles of the peasants during the time leading up to the French Revolution.

    • This cartoon shows how the Clergy used the peasants as a pedestal and/or a mode of transportation when the peasant is clearly in pain, old, weak, and is put down every single day. This was a big problem before the French Revolution because the Clergy had no respect for the workers in their society. This mistreatment went on for too long which led to a long waiting revolt.

    It shows that the third estates is really suffering. It shows that because they have to pay so many taxes, they are unable to work the land. It shows other animals then eating that food the the peasant was too weak to get. Shows how poor the peasants really are.

  • The cartoon summarizes the problems of the economy before the French revolution because it shows how each estate was treated. The third estate was treated with little to no respect because. This can be proven because the man is wearing dirty clothes, looks sad/tires, and he is carrying the other estate on his back, representing that they are better/ more powerful than him. The second estate is treated very well, but not as well as the first estate. This is proven because the second estate rides behind the first estate. Unlike the first, the second estate is dressed nicely with a smile on his face. The first estate is treated with over all respect. He looks very happy because knows he's better than everyone else, and he is living his very best life.
