It reminds me of driving when I first got my license and the freedom associated with it. My love for country music started with this song and quickly grew until it was my favorite genre. There is a strange hippie culture at my camp which has been passed down through the years, and everyone listens to Grateful Dead and other Jam Bands alike. I was pretty big into Indie Music throughout my sophomore and junior year of high school. Although I don't listen to it on a regular basis anymore, I always listen to it through the headphones in my helmet as I snowboard. Each spring break, my best friend and I take a trip to my Uncle's condo in Steamboat, Colorado. Whenever they were in the house or the car, they would always be listening to old pop and jazz from the late 40s to early 60s. Artists such as Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Bobby Darin, and Tommy Dorsey were played nightly. This genre was my first expose to music and really the only one I heard on a consistent basis during my childhood. This ballad came from a dream David Allen Coe had where he supposedly had a conversation with the dead country legend, Hank Williams. This was my way of including Hank Williams in the post, since I often to him on long car rides, without choosing one of his songs.
