When we think of the hero in the Harry Potter series, we immediatly think of Harry, Dumbledore, or even Hermione...but never Ron. Ron is the hero the modern world needs because he is so purely himself. He never tries to be something else and he always holds up his friends. He is the only character who never feels the need to change himself. He never caves to the pressure of becoming someone else.

In our modern American Society, our greatest problem is loss of identity. We are so focues on materials that we lose who we are as individuals and as a culture.

We replace a sense of identity with "desire." We keep saying "I want" because we think that time is against us. We either forfeit or accidentally lose our personal identity in attempt to gain money, posessions, or to comply with a socially glorified stereotype.

The qualities that need to be more present in our society are personal strength and a glorification of real individuals. The media creates people who don't exists to sell products. We need to get back into the habit of feeling good about ourselves and not wanting to change who we are.

Lancelot is King Arthur's best friend just like Ron is Harry's best friend but the stories are called "Arthurian Legend" and "Harry Potter" so Lancelot and Ron are both set aside. Both characters are integral to the story (the story would not have happened were it not for these two) and they are the driving support system behind their respective main characters. These characters, however, are able to keep their own identity in the story without bending and conforming to another character or surpressing part of their being.

Yes! First of all: this project would be obsolete if the answer was no. Second of all: we think of spirituality on an individual level and we believe that a modern hero can lead a society (secular or religious) to recognizing spirituality on a personal level in each individual's own life.
