Another form of government is the Oligarchy. Between 1100 and 800 B.C.E., small groups of people began to share the ruling power in several Greek city-states. Citizens in an Oligarchy enjoyed certain protections, although they lacked full political rights, such as voting. By the 400s B.C.E., a stable Oligarchy ruled only one city-state which was Sparta. Another is Tyranny, the Tyranny in Greece first arose in the mid 600s B.C.E.. Many tyrants ruled for a short period of time . In some city-states, tyrants became harsh and greedy, and were simply overthrown by the people. In 510 B.C.E. a combination of Spartan and Athenian invaders were apposed to his harsh rule, forced hippias to leave Greece. So a new form of government one in which all citizens shared in decision making, eventually replaced him. The differences between Greece democracy is that the Greece democracy was a direct democracy and the US is a representative democracy. Also in Greece democracy they lacked full political rights such as voting.  And in the US democracy all citizens are allowed to vote, there are no restrictions on race, gender, or wealth.
