On April 6, 1917 the United States declared war on Germany after refusing to join the war wanting to stay neutral. The declaration was declared because Germany's motive was to sink every ship entering the waters of the United Kingdom, including passenger ships and neutral American ships. Since, they believed that every ship would be carrying aid to Germany's opponents. Additionally, Germany sent a telegram to Mexico, which the US intercepted learning that Germany wanted to ally with Mexico against the United States. Though Mexico refused their request, the United States was outraged and declared war on Germany.

Source- https://www.annefrank.org/en/timeline/42/the-united-states-declare-war-on-germany/

Italy's decision to enter WW1 was because Italy wanted to gain territory and elevate its status to gain a great amount of power. Although, apart from the alliance with Germany and Austria-Hungary, Italy declared neutrality at the start of the war in August 1914. This was because the alliance was defensive, and Austria-Hungary was seen as the attacker against Serbia. Italy then began secret negotiations with both sides to see which side would offer the most support for its country. The allies offered better territory from Austria-Hungary, which had been Italy's historical enemy.

A Serbian nationalist assassinated on June 28th, Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife in Sarajevo. Serbians were concerned about Austria-Hungary going into the Balkans region of Europe. Austria-Hungary was getting prepared to attack Serbia with the help of Germany. Before resorting to war, Austria went to Serbia with three demands, and Serbia agreed to all of them except one, causing the Austrian government to break diplomatic relations. Serbia alerted Russia to start preparing for the attack against Austria. This led to Austria-Hungary declaring war on Serbia and triggering WWI.

https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/july-28/austria-hungary-declares-war-on-serbia
