For an individual assessment, we have to do a research interest where I do choose my research to be the discussion about the effect of technology learning material to physics students performances. Basically, my research will argue whether the technology material are needed while teaching physics subject or the usage of traditional method are more realistic for the 21^st century students. 

My name is Nur Shahirah Bt Mohd Radzi. I am looking forward this course, EDU 540 Introduction to Research Methodology as I know that this course will help me a lot in my upcoming semester and in future. I hope I am able to complete all the assignments and tasks that is compulsory in this subject in smooth sailing. 

As for the title journal that I have chosen for my research is entitled ‘ Grouped to Achieve: Are There Benefits to Assigning Students to Heterogeneous Cooperative Learning Groups Based on Pre-Test Scores?’ by Arman Karl Werth. It is a study regarding heterogeneous cooperative learning groups based on student achievement can be used as a differentiated instructional strategy to increase students' ability to demonstrate knowledge of science concepts and ability to do engineering design. 

My name is Norsuziana Binti Abu Samah. I have a lot of nicknames,  but I prefer to call Su. I am from Klang, Selangor.  Prof and I were never met yet because  I’m not attending the last week class for some reasons. However, my classmates have already informed me about the subject that we are going to learn. I am so excited to be in this class soon. I believed that this subject helps me a lot to be in this field, especially when I want to do my A.E on final semester. 

As requested, I have chosen my research interest topic  is " The impact of educational reform on sciences education". I think this topic need to be highlighted where our education in Malaysia is currently finding the best way to improve our education by reform it. So, we need to see the impact from the reformation that have done in our education. However, my research interest more focus in sciences education.

The time when I knew that we have to learn this subject this semester, I feel excited because I am sure this subject will give me a lot of knowledge on doing a research as we have to do our AE soon, insyaAllah 😊

 As for one of our assessment, we have to find an interesting research. So my research title is “Assessing Urban And Rural Teachers’ Competencies in STEM Integrated Education in Malaysia.” The purpose of this study basically to assess differences between teachers’ competency in implementing STEM integration education between urban and rural teachers.

I am Amira Binti Isham and I am from Johor Bahru. First of all, I want to share that I am excited to learn this course. It is because, before this, my senior had told me that EDU540 (Introduction to Research Methodology) that I will take in this semester is an interesting education subject as it taught students about academic research since we will conduct research in order to complete our study.

 

After the first class, as asked by Prof. Aziah, I had found a research that I am interested to know more about. It’s about The Role Of E-Learning, The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Its Adoption In Higher Education. I preferred this because I want to investigate the effectiveness of using e-learning in teaching in tertiary institutions nowadays and for the future.

First of all, I believe that the course of Introduction to Research Methodology (EDU540) is important and beneficial to us as UiTM education’s students because this course will help us going through our AE process. 

In our first week of EDU540 class, Prof Aziah asked us to find our “research interest” by our own. So, after I have taken some considerations about what topic should I do for my “research interest”, I have decided to choose a topic of “The Implication of Active-learning in Physics” for my “research interest”. I choose the topic because I want to highlight the good implication of having that kind of teaching method rather than traditional way. The examples of active-learning include group tasks, peer teaching, and presentation. Many science students who take physics subject in their studies think that physics is difficult for them to understand and even to get a good score for that subject. This is because they are usually being exposed to traditional way of teaching in learning the subject and thus students cannot actively participate in physics learning. When students cannot actively participating in learning physics in class, they tend to loss their interest and motivation in learning physics. That is why I choose the topic of “The Implication of Active-learning in Physics”.

I am really looking forward for your guidance and advice in order to do this task successfully Prof .

Talk about my topic for the individual assessment the research interest, my topic is “Teaching about Inequity: Shifts in student views about Diversity in Physics”. To be honest, I am still pondering to choose this topic or not and I have a possibility to change it. It is because I am not sure is it this topic suitable for our current educational situations. However, I will try my very best to choose a right topic immediately.

 This entry is jotted to abide Prof’s wish to inform on research interest. Thus, the research I am captivated to do for this subject is “How physics instruction in school impacts students’ beliefs about learning physics”. This research is intended to investigate students’ thoughts when they learn physics subject in school. In other words, the study is going to see the changes or impacts of physics learning towards students’ prior knowledge. I want to know what students perceive about physics. For example, if student is originally interested to learn physics, would it stay the same after they learnt physics subject? Are they going to accept physics instruction wholeheartedly? Or perhaps are they going to experience a new knowledge that contradicts their latent idea? And when that happened, how is it going to impact the student? Through this research, I am expecting both favourable and unfavourable responses with regards to students’ capability. I think that this shall help us as a future physics teacher to make the best out of physics pedagogy.  Since I used to be that student in school learning physics and stuff, I knew well that feeling of learning something that seemed to be unacceptable, at least to me.

Lastly, I hope that Prof will approve this research idea and guide me along the journey. Thank you.
