It is characterized by the rich natural beauty of the wider area, which includes wetlands and lakes, and has developed significantly, especially after the flourishing of tobacco cultivation in the early 20th century, as well as the settlement of refugees from Asia Minor, Epirus and other mountainous areas.

The settlement has been known since the Byzantine period under the name Poda. During the Ottoman conquest, Poda became a manor house called Pournari, inhabited by a few families of Greek peasants. With the Balkan Wars, the settlement was deserted and in 1923, 118 families of Asia Minor (414 people) from Rysio or Aretsou from the coast of Bithynia and 55 families of Thracians from Eastern Thrace settled there, of which 22 families from the village of Ambarli.

Our school provides education for 314 students with the support of 22 teachers in 15 classrooms. The educational environment is designed to be safe, organized, and productive so that students can learn happily and effectively.

Located approximately 2.5 kilometers from the center of Konak, our school is easily accessible by public transportation. My name is Şeyma, and I am a secondary school mathematics teacher from Türkiye. I believe that meaningful learning happens when math is integrated into real life rather than being just an abstract subject. Therefore, I strive to implement innovative approaches in my classroom to develop my students' creativity, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

I am highly interested in blending technology with education, implementing STEM activities, and creating interdisciplinary projects. Our school is located in Sarıkaya, a historical and thermal district of Yozgat, situated in the Central Anatolia region of Türkiye.

Sarıkaya is famous for its ancient Roman thermal city, "Basilica Therma" (also known as the King's Daughter Bath), which is registered on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List. It acts as an open-air museum with its healing thermal waters that have been flowing continuously since the Roman Empire. Apart from its rich history, Sarıkaya is a warm Anatolian district known for its vast plains, agriculture, and hospitable people.
