  • Universal design refers to broad and open ideas meant to produce homes and environments that are able to house older people, people without disabilities, and people with disabilities.
    • Some examples of Universal Design are:
    • Buttons and controls that can be distinguished by touch using shape, position and feel.
    • Automation such as automatic doors and adaptive lighting that comes on when someone approaches.
    • A bathtub with one side that can be collapsed into the floor.
    • Use of visual contrast such as standard black on white or complementary colors.
    • Safety features such as non-slip floor tiles.

They want to have space for a child's room and an office.   • Automated shades with natural colors will be used in the living room and master bedroom. These shades will be made out of bamboo.
  • The overall theme in the house is going to be modern but earthy. The paint colors will be neutral, calming colors, such as driftwood grey, creamy latte, and dull baby blue. Some elements in the house though will include black.
  • The flooring throughout the house is going to be granite and bamboo hardwood.
  • The bulbs that we are going to use in all of our light fixtures are Ikea's TRADFRI bulbs. This smart lighting allows you to control the brightness of your lights with just a tap on your phone. These bulbs are affordable, and don't need any new wiring or hiring of an electrician.

    • We don't have any furniture blocking doorways or pathways
    • We have furniture at a lower level that is wheelchair accessible for our client's disability
    • We have a walk in shower for our client's disability 
    • There's at least 4.5 feet between each element in the work triangle of the kitchen.
