طَلَبُ الْعِلْمِ فَرِيضَةٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ

This verse from Rasulullah means “Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim" but it doesn't apply to just us as a muslim but also to every mankind. In this modern days, we can see how people with great education system is highly graded by others than the people who aren't. I'm not saying that people who does not have good education will not be successful in their life but it can be seen just how important education towards the modern world.

I'm so grateful because I've been raised in a family that really concerned about knowledge and education from my childhood days up until today. So, today I would like to share my studying journey which will not be really interesting to faced but surely it is interesting to know! It was really challenging to get into this school because students need to face with some sort of special examination in order to get into this school. Being a kid back in the days, I am not the type of kid who have a desire to study that hard like I do now. But, with the help of my parents I got pass the exam. All students who pass will be placed in the class based on the grade they got respectively.

You can see that picture of my primary school, this was taken back in 2014 my last year at that school as a standard 6 student. Here, I learned a lot about basic educational subjects like Bahasa Malaysia, mathematics, science and so on. I used to hate studying mathematics when I was standard 1 but as the times fly, I started to catch up and understand mathematics really well. This also the main reason why I'm taking my current course of Quantity Surveying.

But after leaving the school since 2015, I rarely came here to pay a visit . I do have a few chances where I came to the school to send my little brother who was studying here. "If anyone pursues a path in search of knowledge, Allah will then by make easy for him a path to paradise; and he who is made slow by his actions will not be speeded by his genealogy".

So, in 2015 I started my secondary school period at Sekolah Agama Menengah Tinggi Tengku Ampuan Jemahh (Samttaj), Shah Alam. Being a teenager is hard we started to face reality on studying, learning how to manage almost everything by ourself and maybe this is the time where most of us begin to think about our future to be pursuit. The potrait above is my senior year classmates, they are my joy and I'm really happy to met them. There is a quotes where it says "How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard" I realized that my high school friends was really like a gem to me. It is sad to leave high school period because this the most enjoyable part of most of people life but we must go on. And do not forget to enjoy every seconds of it because you will miss the great moments in the future.

I want to relate this to lecture week 4 about maqasid shariah, where seeking for knowledge falls under Hifz al-'aql (intellect). As I said before, knowledge is one the standard on how public see us as human being, intellect in maqasid shariah also is a source of people honours and virtue. Allah grants his servants with such significant blessing to seek for knowledge in this world. This make us distinguished from all other creatures bt the grace of mind and therefore, make us as "Khalifatullah fi al-ard".

So everyone left highschool with a pleasant SPM results, pursuing each dream that they want. I met with a lot of people from all around Malaysia and make friends with some of them, because my mom said to be picky when choosing friends. Despite we need to conduct online classes for two semester, online classes sure are harsh for us foundation students who pursue architecture. A lot of stress, pressure, misunderstanding and generally a problem among the students but Alhamdulillah everything went well for us. Some of us even celebrated Aidilfitri there at Gambang campus.

Now, eveyone have their own major course. Thus, it is different challenge, subject, works, stress and happiness for everyone but we sure do have sometime to release our pressure. Up until this day I am really grateful to faced such a long and beautiful journey with a lot of various tempered people. Right now I'm countinuing my study in Bachelor of Quantity Surveyor (QS) majoring and currently on my freshman year here at the main campus of IIUM, Gombak. Unfortunately, my late grandmother didn't see his grandchild today. Our lecturer, Dr. Maulana Akbar give us one possiblity to visit Muslim EduCare located at Batu Cave, Selangor. 

Muslim EduCare is basically a school where they take children of rohingya refugee to pursue their study there, we can see how struggle they are just to seek for knowledge. Different ages of students from kindergarten until highschool student placed in just one class, but they learning different type of syllabus. From this, it really made me realize how student life is really easy compared to them and this makes me sad thinking about it. I hope that those children will grow up to be a better person and help their parents with the education that they have.

To sum everything up, I hope that we thanked Allah S.W.T for the chances he gave to us, lighten the problem in this journey of seeking knowledge.
