         <description><![CDATA[<p>Billie was never taught how to sing but due to the fact of having a sensitive sense of music to the blues and jazz she developed a singing style that was deeply moved and individual.</p><p><br/></p><p>1936 through 1942 was her peak artist years.</p><p><br/></p><p>There was a period where she was often associated with a saxophonist. They called her "Lady Day" but her real  name was Lester Young.</p><p><br/></p><p>1947 was the year where Holiday was arrested due to narcotic violations and spent an year in rehab.</p><p><br/></p><p>She toured with Basie and with <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" class="md-crosslink " href="https://www.britannica.com/biography/Artie-Shaw">Artie Shaw</a> in 1937 and 1938 and in the latter year opened at the plush Café Society in New York City</p><p><br/></p>]]></description>
