We are influenced by what we see, smell, or even feel. If we are already having a bad day, and perhaps see someone with a shirt that is a color we don't like we might form a negative first impression of them. We all know that some people just give us the creeps. weather its their clothes, hair, smell, or just the way they look in general. First impressions are hard to get rid of because it is often hard to learn to love something that initially leaves a bad feeling or sour taste. Immediate attraction tends to favor average people who appear to be in good health while we used to think that the golden ratio was like some special formula reserved for the extremely attractive, it is actually quite common. We are looking for a possible mate who will give us healthy offspring. Romantic attraction is a second step. At that point we are looking beyond the physical qualities and more toward how a person makes us feel. We want to feel loved and cared for. We want to find our other half, and complete the puzzle.
