The directory is a centralised virtual location that helps individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness find supports and services to assist them.  It allows users to filter by county and category. There are a number of categories to choose from depending on an individual’s circumstances. These categories include Homeless and Homeless Preventions Services, Services for Foreign Nationals, Disability Services, Financial Advice and Supports etc. The full list can be viewed in the directory. This directory is equally useful for practitioners working in the homelessness sector or ancillary to same.

·  About the Course

The Substance Use Issues & Community Work Course 2025 / 26 is designed to promote good practice among those who work in a paid or voluntary capacity with young people and communities who are affected by various issues.

·  Learning Outcomes

The course aims to provide a critical perspective on some of the issues that affect young people and their communities and encourages the development of coherent responses at individual and organisational level.

The components: Understanding Community Development and Substance Use Issues should support the ability of learners to work safely and effectively in youth and / or community work settings. The programme also aims to provide the participants with the necessary knowledge regarding applicable supports systems, both within and outside their communities.

·  Entry Requirements-

Applicants must send the relevant application form to Cork City Partnership by Friday 29^th August 2025. 

Be 21 or over (Jan 2025).

Attend a pre-entry information session 9^th September 2025 (evening). 

Attend a pre-arranged online interview 16^th September 2025 (day)

Have Leaving Certificate, its equivalent OR alternatively complete a pre-arranged English Language Assessment on the 9^th September 2024.

Applicants are also expected to be active participants in the community in either a voluntary or work capacity.

· Duration & Venue -The course will be run over a one year academic period on a Tuesday evening from September to March (20 weeks) in a blended format of both online and onsite in the Cork College of FET – Morrison’s Island Campus, Cork City.

The Living Well Programme is a free, 6–week, group self-management programme for adults with chronic or long-term health conditions. The programme supports people to develop the skills and confidence to live well with their health condition. The programme focuses on developing and enhancing confidence and self-management skills. It complements clinical treatment and other patient education programmes.

It is an evidence-based self-management programme originally developed at Stanford University and you can read the ‘Report on the Impact of the HSE Living Well Programme’ here.

What does Living Well involve?

• Living Well runs in-person or online for six weeks. There is one workshop each week lasting 2.5 hours.

• Workshops are delivered by two trained leaders, one or both of whom are living with a long-term health condition (peers).  

• The workshops are delivered in a relaxed and friendly way. Participants share experiences of living with a long-term health condition(s).

• Each person who takes part gets a book about self-management.

• People can sign up themselves or can be referred by a healthcare professional.

Who can join the Living Well programme?

Living Well is for adults aged 18 years and over. It is suitable for those

• living with one or more long-term health conditions

• caring for someone with a long-term health condition

It is not suitable however, for people with significant memory or learning difficulties.
