This story was about how the Kings subject had a secret love affair with his princess. When the king found out he made the subject go to trial. The princess was looking at the subject to help him make a decision on what door to open. In the end of the story they leave us with a decision on which door we think he should open. Therefore, they both decided to give up one of their most valuable possessions to get something for one another. Della gave up some of her hair and Jim got rid of his watch. When they exchanged gifts neither of them could use the items because they were for originally what they gave up to get something for each other. In the title of the story “The Magi,” is another word for the three wise men. I did not really enjoy this story very well because I think it is very cruel to stone people to death.
