The princess was looking at the subject to help him make a decision on what door to open. In the end of the story they leave us with a decision on which door we think he should open. Therefore, they both decided to give up one of their most valuable possessions to get something for one another. Della gave up some of her hair and Jim got rid of his watch. When they exchanged gifts neither of them could use the items because they were for originally what they gave up to get something for each other. In the title of the story “The Magi,” is another word for the three wise men. This relates to the story because they gave Jesus gifts that had a special meeting just how Della and Jim had meanings with their gifts.

If you happen to get black then your family goes into a separate drawing and then the person who gets the black dot then is take into a open area and stoned to death. I did not really enjoy this story very well because I think it is very cruel to stone people to death. I would not choose to read a story like this again probably because it makes me sad to read about things like that.

A tree ended up falling on both Ulrich and George, which they did not get along because they both wanted the land to themselves. They were then captured under the teee together and had to do what they could do get along. While they were under the tree they saw figured ahead of them that turned out to be a pack of wolves and then they were assumed to be killed by the pack of wolves. I personally wish the ending would have been where they were able to get along and share the land, but it was still an interesting story.

The whole story mainly talks about the construction and process of building the Empire Stas Building.

This story talked about how Peter negotiated with the Lenape tripe for the island. Peter was willing to give up tools, pans, and jewelry worth some 60 guilders to purchase the Manhattan Island. The Native Americans did not believe that Peter purchased the Island even after they made the fair trade. I liked reading this because I had never heard much about it and I learned a lot about it.

As I read I thought about how much our lives today have changed since back then and how much easier it is to travel today. Therefore, I am very thankful for what I have today and think about all those people who struggled in covered wagons on there long journeys.
