         <title>Protist</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p> Giardia is a tiny living thing called a Protist. Even though it's so small we can only see it with a microscope, it can still cause trouble. Giardia lives in the stomach and intestines of people and animals, and it can make us sick with something called Giardiasis. This sickness often happens when people drink water that has Giardia in it.</p><p> A couple of interesting facts about this Protist is that it has special "tails"  called flagella that help it swim around, and it has 2 big "eyes" (nuclei) that makes it look like a funny little face under the microscope. It can also form a hard shell called a cyst, which helps it survive outside the body for weeks or even months until it finds a new host.</p><p> Even though Giardia can make us sick, its also an amazing example of how tiny life forms have adapted to survive almost anywhere, even in places we cant see!!!!</p><p><br/></p><p><a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cdc.gov/giardia/about/index.html">https://www.cdc.gov/giardia/about/index.html</a></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>This chart shows how plants can be put into two groups: monocots and dicots. Monocots have one seed leaf, fibrous roots like strings, straight leaf lines, and flower petals in 3s. Dicots have two seed leaves, one big tap root, net-like leaf lines, and flower petals in 4s or 5s.</p><p>Corn and onions are monocots because they have straight leaf lines and stringy roots. Roses and beans are dicots because they have net-like leaf lines, tap roots, and 5 petals. These clues help us tell which group a plant belongs to.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Homeostasis is basically how our bodies keep things balanced inside, even when stuff around us changes. It’s a process first explained by a scientist named Walter Cannon, who built on ideas from another physiologist, Claude Bernard. Every cell in our body depends on homeostasis to keep things like temperature, water, and pH levels just right. When something changes, cells react and adjust to stay balanced. Different body systems, like the nervous, endocrine, and respiratory systems, all work together to make this happen. For example, our breathing and hormones change automatically to keep oxygen and other chemicals in check. The body uses feedback loops to notice changes and fix them before things get out of control.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Heart failure affect the circulatory system (mainly the heart) it is when the heart can’t pump blood as well as it should, so the body doesn’t get enough oxygen and nutrients. It can happen for a lot of reasons, like high blood pressure, heart disease, or blocked arteries. People who have it might feel super tired, short of breath, or notice swelling in their legs or feet. Doctors look at something called the ejection fraction to see how strong the heart is pumping. Sometimes heart failure happens suddenly, like after a heart attack, and other times it builds up slowly over the years. Treatment usually involves medicine, surgery, or changes in diet and exercise. It sounds scary, but with the right care, people can manage it and still live a pretty normal life.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Wetlands are super important because they help protect the environment in a bunch of ways. They soak up extra rainwater, which helps prevent flooding, and they also clean the water by filtering out pollution. Tons of animals live in wetlands, like shrimp, fish, and birds. The Chesapeake Bay is a great example; it has a huge area of wetlands where eagles, ospreys, and other birds make their nests. A lot of fish even go there to lay their eggs. Without wetlands, we’d have more floods, dirtier water, and fewer animals around.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Biodiversity is basically the variety of life on Earth, and it’s super important for keeping ecosystems healthy. There are three main types: genetic, species, and ecosystem biodiversity. Genetic biodiversity means differences within the same species, like how rock pocket mice can have light or dark fur depending on whether they live on sand or rock. Species biodiversity is about the variety of species in an area, for example, the different kinds of bats in the Sonoran Desert. Ecosystem biodiversity means having lots of different environments like deserts, forests, and coral reefs. All of these types of biodiversity work together to make life on Earth more stable and balanced. Without biodiversity, ecosystems would be weaker, and even our own survival could be at risk. It’s crazy how connected everything really is!</p>]]></description>
