         <title>Huntingtons  </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>An inherited disease that causes the progressive degeneration of nerve cells in the brain.<br><strong>Cause <br></strong>An<strong> </strong>autosomal dominant gene defect. Each child in a family with a history of Huntington's has a 50% chance of inheriting the disorder. <strong><br>Symptoms</strong> <br>* Involuntary movement <br>* Cognitive impairments such as difficulty learning new information. <br>* Feelings of irritability, sadness or apathy<br>* Social withdrawal <br>* Insomnia<br>* Fatigue and loss of energy<br>* Frequent thoughts of death, dying or suicide</div><div><strong>Beginning of symptoms</strong> <br>Symptoms most often start to occur at around age 30-40 <br><strong>Treatment <br></strong>Huntington's is incurable and there for has no treatments. However, symptoms can be managed through medications such as Tetrabenazine (Xenazine).<br><strong>Prognosis</strong> <br>Death occurs within approximately 10 years of beginning symptoms.<br>  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A disorder that involves repetitive movements or unwanted sounds, called tics, that can't be easily controlled.<br><strong>Cause</strong><br>Cause is unknown.<br><strong>Symptoms </strong><br>Eye blinking <br>Head jerking <br>Shoulder shrugging <br>Eye darting <br>Bending or twisting<br>Mouth movements <br>Grunting <br>Repeating one's own words or phrases<br>Throat clearing <br>Using vulgar, obscene or swear words<br><strong>Beginning of symptoms</strong> <br>Symptoms usually begin to occur from age 2-15.<br><strong>Treatment </strong><br>There's no cure for Tourette syndrome Medications such as Botulinum (Botox) and ADHD are used to control tics that interfere with basic functioning.<br><strong>Prognosis </strong><br>The disorder is generally lifelong and chronic however patients have a normal life expectancy. <br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A progressive nervous system disorder that affects movement. <br><strong>Cause </strong><br>The cause of Parkinson's disease is unknown, but genes and environment appear to play a role.<br><strong>Symptoms</strong> <br>* Tremor<br>* Slowed movement <br>* Rigid muscles<br>* Impaired posture and balance<br>* Loss of automatic movements<br>* Speech changes<br>* Writing changes<br><strong>Beginning of symptoms</strong> <br>Usually around age 60 or older.<br><strong>Treatment</strong> <br>There is no cure, but medications can dramatically  help control symptoms. In more severe cases, surgery may be advised.<br><strong>Prognosis</strong> <br>Patients with Parkinson's usually have a shorter life span and death occurs within 10-20 years of beginning symptoms.  <br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A mass or growth of abnormal cells in your brain.<br><strong>Cause</strong> <br>normal cells mutate in their DNA which allows cells to grow and divide at increased rates and to continue living when healthy cells would die. The result is a mass of abnormal cells, which forms a tumor.<br><strong>Symptoms </strong><br>* Headaches that gradually become more frequent and more severe<br>* Vision problems, such as blurred vision, double vision or loss of peripheral vision<br>* Gradual loss of sensation or movement in an arm or a leg<br>* Difficulty with balance<br>* Speech and hearing difficulties<br>* Confusion in everyday matters<br>* Personality or behavior changes<br>* Seizures, especially in someone who doesn't have a history of seizures <br><strong>Beginning of symptoms</strong> <br>Can occur at any age.<br><strong>Treatment </strong><br>Radiation therapy, Chemotherapy, and surgery.<br><strong>Prognosis</strong> <br>Depends on type of Brain tumor. Some may be impossible to treat and lead to death, other types may be easy to remove and the patients have a normal life expectancy. <br><br></div>]]></description>

Bacterial infections and noninfectious inflammatory conditions also can cause encephalitis.<br><strong>Symptoms </strong><br>* Headache<br>* Fever<br>* Aches in muscles or joints<br>* Fatigue or weakness</div><div>* Confusion, agitation or hallucinations<br>* Seizures<br>* Loss of sensation or paralysis in certain areas of the face or body<br>* Muscle weakness<br>* Problems with speech or hearing<br>* Loss of consciousness<br><strong>Beginning of symptoms </strong><br>Can occur at any age. <br><strong>Treatment</strong> <br>*  Bed rest<br>* Plenty of fluids<br>* Anti-inflammatory drugs <br>* Antiviral drugs <br><strong>Prognosis </strong><br>While many people make a full recovery, in severe cases, the illness may be fatal or cause brain damage.</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>
