In my performance I was playing a loud character which created a dramatic scene in the play. What I think was really effective was when there was a certain part where my peer Tyler was pretending she had the zombie infection and she was explaining this to me in a quiet tone so no other character could hear (otherwise it would get her killed) but in return I replied "I cant hear you" therefore she explained again slightly louder and of course i replied with a "i cant hear you" again and Tyler screamed her sentence for the 3rd time causing all the characters to get anxious. This really built tension as it questioned the audience as to what might happen next.

Miss Jim says: The way you used the rule of three in your piece was very effective at creating tension. If you were going to develop your role play even further what other drama skills could you use to continue to build up tension? Also I am not sure who this is - please could you put your name at the top of your blog so I can identify you.

At the end of our performance, I used thought tracking to show the audience how I felt about the given situation. I stepped out of the scene as everyone else froze to show that I was going to begin thought tracking. I used a harsh tone to show how I felt towards my wife telling her brother about the extremely contagious disease I had caught. This showed the audience how I was truly feeling because I was trying to stay calm for my family however, I was panicking inside, thinking about what would happen if the police found out.

Miss Jim says: An excellent description of how you used thought tracking in your work.

In our drama performance we used body language, raising our voices, hand gestures in order to show the audience our emotions and our thoughts on the "Zombie Infection". I think that was effective because instead of directly stating how we all felt, we indirectly hinted our thoughts if that makes sense. On stage we had the officer speak in a loud voice to show higher status and also the scene where the person who got infected was getting confronted created tension between the characters and the audience. This had an impact on the audience because it created suspense as they didn't know what would happen next.

Miss Jim says: you make some good points about the use of body language and gesture. It was effective when my character the 'overwhelmed pregnant woman' would repeat certain phrases that would add to the panic in the scene and also make the audience understand what type of character I was playing. I was sat at centre stage throughout the performance to emphasise that I was the main concern in the role play and also to acknowledge that I was a dramatic character. I was panting and screaming after I had just heard the devastating news on stage. This was effective and impacted the audience, as it drew attention to the characters on the stage.

A very good evaluation of how you went into role. Therefore from the images of the panic around me i used gestures such as rocking back and forth, cradling my head to show i did not want to listen anymore.

During my performance, I created and personalised my character to have a mixed personality. Charlotte: wife, mother of two & daughter. I had the challenge to play both very loving & caring, along with stressed, and, overwhelmed in certain situations. The most effective skill I used during my performance was my voice & body language. These two skills in particular helped define me, Charlotte as a dominate character. It helped the audience understand 'charlotte' simply by the body language. Example- Using levels to show feelings. Standing/slanting low to show a more negative emotion. Or standing tall & high to show positivity.
Throughout the performance i also used my voice effectively. The tone of voice varied at different stages of the role play. I controlled my voice, projecting it loud enough (without shouting). This had an impact on the audience as they could feel tension and emotion. Overall my use of voice & body language entreges the audience to follow through and even symthfy for me as Charlotte.

Miss Jim says: An excellent evaluation with good detail of the skills you used when creating the character of Charlotte.

What was really effective in my piece was that i was able to give a true impression of my character, which got everyone interested and predicting. I had the ability/skill to give the audience a full contrast of facial expressions, body language and i never once backed the audience. I chose to do a variety of techniques on stage. If i were to mention a few they will be (a few stated previously): Facial expressions, Background noises/effects, Interacting with the audience once in a whilst making sure our piece doesn't die out, but stays as a constant flow. This was obviously effective for many reasons - The audience were actually inquisitive and curious for the play to get to a halt, facial expressions put them under the intention of reality and it made it real and true for them. Our piece was bold and clear, the effect on the audience stood on a numerous of elements. My group had the mobility and strength that other groups lacked of containing.

Miss Jim says: Well done Leyla some excellent vocabulary used in this evaluation and use of drama terms. Can you just in a bot more specific detail - describe exactly how you used facial expression or voice to create an effect.

My character was a girl who was selfish and always argued with her siblings. What I also thought was effective was how i used a loud voice and tone to my rude and selfish character. On stage we used space and staging so the audience was able to observe what was happening in the role play. On stage i was using hand gestures (shaking tremendously) to show the audience how panicked and worried I was. My character was being overly dramatic to show how a zombie virus would actually be. The role play had a very big impact on the audience as they looked very shocked at how realistic the zombie virus looked.

Miss Jim says: you make some really good points about how you went into role and reacted to the situation. Another thing that was effective was my voice, loud but controlled to show my authority and confidence.

My posture was a given in the piece, as I was meant to be intimidating and coming off as a person who thinks others around her are inferior. What was most effective in my eyes was the use of 'pausing' which showed my uneasiness as I was in a environment and situation I was not used to being in and the fact that I was unfamiliar with the people with me in the bunker. The pausing showed my awkwardness and hesitancy as to what I had to say to the others. This would influence the audience's feelings and make them feel uneasy as well.

Miss Jim says: An excellent response on how you went into role - well done.

In my piece the use of voice was really effective. My character was a young "hippy" PA. Therefore the way I moved showed the characteristics of my character. This showed the audience the mood of the character and made the audience feel almost annoyed at the cheeriness of the character I played.

Miss Jim says: It is good that you chose to play a character very different from yourself - this is taking a risk. Can you be more specific about how you used drama skills when in role to show the 'hippy' characteristics? What tone of voice or spoken language did you use for example?

I think the most affective thing for me as was our characters. They we're all though out and the difference in the way we all spoke was apparent. We all had different personalities and when acting, each component of our characteristics really came through. Personally I had to pretend I was in ex-army officer who was abused as a child, this was clear when my character was interacting and shouting at others as well as this when people were shouting at me I didn't say anything or act in a way that most people would've reacted. The impact it had on the audience was they could feel connected with the different character's traits this makes the audience feel like they can relate with us and with the different characters, for example I had a very strong opinion about what I thought should happen.

Miss Jim says: Well done on bering so creative and obviously thinking about going into role as a very complex character. If you were going to develop this character even further how might you do this?

What I think was really effective in my performance is that I used body language and facial expressions effectively. What we done on stage is that we used our tone in our characters so it which character we`re playing and what kind of personality does she have. The impact on the audience is that the audience knew what character we were because of the way we used tone, body language and the way we portrayed ourselves.

Miss Jim says: You have started to explain how you physically created a character when going into role. could you go back and just add some specific examples of the kind of gestures, facial expressions and tone of voice you used and why when in role.

The scenario that my group and I had been given was to act like a family, My character Davidson had a very mixed personality, he was very heartless.Davidson is very organized and is a quick thinker; when he called up his 'sister' Charlotte (played by Aliyah) and told her exactly what to do in the situation.
I think that the most effective part of our Performance was our cross Cut although we just needed to perfect it and make it clear what drama technique we were using. My most effective part in the performance was my voice and the way i was trying to make it seem like a real life situation when i improvised in that quick situation when Charlotte was having a mini meltdown. The audience said that 'it seemed real' and that was our target as a groupo

what I thought was effective in my performance was staying in role and keeping in character. My character was a teenage girl who was quite shy and tried her best to avoid drama, the reason why I thought this was effective was because as all the other characters in my group where very alarmed my chase tar was pretending that nothing was happening and it was a dream.

i think the most effective thing for me was i sustained my character - although my character had a completely different personality i managed to change it completely- by using staging, facial expressions and different levels. The impact on the audience was good becuase by using clear facial expressions indicated my character without me saying it . Next time to make my piece more effective i could exaggerate mu character more.

Personally, I think my character was convincing because I acted the way an old man would. On stage, my group stayed in character throughout the whole play. The impact on the audience is that they felt as if it was realistic, because our facial expressions and body language fit well with our characters and we stayed in role.

In our performence we shouted and talked quiet was effective. This was effective because when you rase your voice it makes audience feel like they in the middle of argument or in the middle of tragety. I also really liked when i challenged my self to a rude and agresive charecter, for me it was challenging becuase you have to act really rude and again raise your voice. On a stage we chose to do a split scene and show that we had alot of space. We made a dying scene at the end, and mother on the other side thinking why did I let my cash machiene die.
