Which types of mentor texts did you engage with this week? Which one was the most interesting to you?
the mentor texts I engaged in was Barack Obama's speech and greta thunbergs speech. these two speeches are classified as non-fiction. the speech that interested me the most was greta's speech because she has great knowledge at a young age.
How did this text challenge or expand your understanding of the future?
the text type expanded my understanding of the future because it made me think of the greater harm people are causing to our earth by doing mistakes that are uncostly. just like throwing a plastic bag out. that plastic bag could kill many sea creatures, its a great reminder to do the right thing and save the earth.

the text made me think if If everyone tries to contribute into this issue the world could become a better place.

the text I engaged into this week was the Joe rogan podcast which featured guests who have worked with AI and are very knowledgeable on the topic. it was very interesting due to the fact of understanding that came out of the podcast.
How did this text challenge or expand your understanding of the future?
the podcast expanded my understanding of the future because it showed many different aspects of AI that I have never seen before.
Did this text raise any questions, excitement, or uncertainties about the future? If so, what are they?
This podcast made me think how advanced AI is going to be in the future as it is expanding its knowledge day by day. this is very scary because we don't know what it could possibly turn into.

the type of text I engaged in this week was "Eco-anxiety is a normal response to disaster. Denial isn’t the answer" This was interesting because the psychological effects on climate change are discussed in the text.
How did this text challenge or expand your understanding of the future?
it expands my understanding of the future because it makes me realise how everyone views things differently like the lady has a different view on the world than me. she doesn't like how the fisherman steals the fish out of the ocean.

Which types of mentor texts did you engage with this week? Which one was the most interesting to you? - I engaged with an episode of the show Black Mirror, it was called Hated in the Nation. This was a visual text written by Charlie Brooker and directed by James Hawes.
How did this text challenge or expand your understanding of the future? - I thought about how it was really interesting little robot bees had been created to replace the real bees due to colony collapse - this seemed first like a really cool way to fix the problem if we really didn't have bees due to environmental concerns. However, my opinion quickly changed when I realised that of course people were going to be under surveillance by the government with a program like that and that's a bit of a scary thought.
Did this text raise any questions, excitement, or uncertainties about the future? If so, what are they? It made me think about the way that the internet is going to evolve. It seemed strange that even in a 'futuristic' show like Black Mirror, there were still things like twitter and cancel culture that existed. It makes me wonder about whether there might end up being serious consequences to 'cancelling' someone online in the future. I'm also even more uncertain about what the environment might look like now because I thought the episode would look way more futuristic and houses would be more automated but things are kind of still looking the same.

- I remembered watching Nosedive which is also an episode of Black Mirror, and people there also have their lives change drastically - but in different ways - when people turn against them.
- 1984 by George Orwell has the theme of surveillance - maybe I can think of a way to join these two ideas together when I create something

My chosen form of writing was a documentary explaining the past, present, and future of AI technology. My purpose is to explain the topic and show understanding of AI.
Explain who you are writing it for and how you have used the language and structural features of the text to appeal to your chosen audience
I am writing it for the audience. Any age that could possibly understand the documentary. I used a chronological order to structure my text and language features included similes.
What is the process that you went through as you produced your text
The process I went through was planning, drafting and the good copy.
What word choices and style did you employ, and what is the impact of that on your audience
I used complex language to make the documentary more intriguing and understanding. This hooks the audience in making the documentary more interesting.
How have you used the mentor text to guide your writing? the mentor texts helped me to write the documentary as it gave me inspiration and understanding to write it. It also helped my vocabulary.
How did you utilize feedback with teachers and peers and how did this impact your writing?
Reflect on your choices and how the writing of the mentor text influenced you as an author.
My choices were overall pretty good as the documentary was pretty confusing to write about, the mentor texts helped me briefly understand how to structure the paragraphs and help the audience understand the documentary.

My chosen form of writing was an adventure story. I'm writing an adventure story because I felt it to be the most interesting for a nonfiction story. My purpose of the adventure story is to create the best story using AI.
Explain who you are writing it for and how you have used the language and structural features of the text to appeal to your chosen audience
I am writing to the audience aged 10 +. Language features I used were situational irony and imagery. The structure of the story was chronological.
What is the process that you went through as you produced your text
The process I used was planning, using mentor texts, receiving ideas, drafting and then doing my good copy.
What word choices and style did you employ, and what is the impact of that on your audience
The word choices I used were standard but also complex. This helps the audience understand the story and not get stuck whilst reading. It creates suspense and doesn't get in the way of the story.
How have you used the mentor text to guide your writing?
I used mentor texts to inspire my learning and understanding of what to write and complete. This helped me as I completed it well.

Reflecting on my adventure story, I felt that my choices were well and as an author I wrote well. The mentor texts helped me as an author because it gave me ideas and helped me.

I read two short tales this week: one was fictitious and titled "Wish you were," and the other was nonfiction and titled "The Lottery." I found 'Wish you were' to be the most intriguing narrative because it resonated more with my personal experiences and outlook on life.
How did this text challenge or expand your understanding of the future?
I learned how computers and robots might rule the future from this text. Given the speed at which AI technology is progressing today, it has made it easier for me to comprehend the implications of creating such sophisticated technology.
Did this text raise any questions, excitement, or uncertainties about the future? If so, what are they?
The text got me thinking about how sophisticated AI and robotics might get in the future. They're supposed to be emotionless, therefore I was curious how they would explain complicated concepts to people if they couldn't give clear answers.
