Background: Cambodia's genocide happened from 1975 to 1979. It happened because the group Khmer Rouge tried to turn the Southeast Asian country into a classless utopia.The Khmer Rouge perpetrated one of the greatest crimes of the 20th century. Nearly two million people died under the rule of the fanatical Communist movement, which imposed a ruthless agenda of forced labor, thought control, and mass execution on Cambodia.
Reception: The reaction was that the UN decided that they needed to help out their friends in Cambodia and placed the Khmer Rouge leaders in jail for lengthy times.
Similarities: Some similarities between the Holocaust and Cambodia's genocide are they had mass shootings, mass graves for the bodies, and people were forced into labor.

Background Interest- A Muslim group known as the Seleka rose to power opposing CAR's government and formed a militia that marched to the capital of CAR, killing many civillians on the way. a group of Christian self-defense forces began to attack Muslim citizens because they opposed the Seleka. This has caused large amounts of violence and over 4.6 million deaths because of the conflicts.
Response- International communities have responded by taking action to resolve the conflict within CAR, and are providing assistance.
Similarities- compared to the Holocaust, both result in militias being formed, and the mass killings of another group based on their religion and beliefs of the government.<del>

</del>

In the beginning of 2003 to current, the Islamic state has been killing minorities of Christianity, Yezidi, Turkmen, Shabak, Sabaean-mandaean, and Kaka'i in Kurtistan, Syria, and Iraq. They believed that if you weren't Muslim you had a price to pay. Kurds (Israel) are fighting against the Islamic states with support of airstrikes from the UN. The Iraq genocide is very similar to the holocaust because ISIS wants to rule the whole world just like Germany did. Also, Germany killed because of religion as well as ISIS.

This genocide happened from 1991 The republic of Yugoslavia was made up of several countries, and therefore several ethnic groups. There had been a long history of tensions between each of these groups, but Josip Tito, president of Yugoslavia, kept these tensions in check until he died in 1980. Things soon spiraled out of control as the Serbs and Croatian's hatred grew for each other. Eventually killing began. The Yugoslavian government sided with the Serbs, and many atrocities were committed from 1991 to 1995. The UN international leaders had refused to confront the Bosnian Serbs but as it became clear that these attacks were planned the UN High Commissioner for Refugees provided humanitarian aid. (this was the central focus to the conflict). Here's some similarites between the Holocaust and the Yugoslavian genocide: both Nazi Germany and Serbs in Yugoslavia tried to cover up and dehumanize the atrocities commited in their genocide, both Nazi Germany and Serbs in Yugoslavia targeted certain ethnic groups, and another similarty between the two is that the night of broken glass, Kristallnacht , was similar to the massacre at Srebrinca.

-Similarities: The south fought back like the Jews in the holocaust.
-Response: South became independent. UN helped protect the citizens, but under manned and unequipped was inadequate to change the situation.
-Background: the genocide resulted in the death of half a million people. In 1972, the Addis Ababa Agreement created peace between the southern rebels. They were known as the Anyanya, and Khartoum. the Sudanese government responded by rewarding and arming local leaders who shared its ideology. Fighting began in Darfur when members of the Fur, Zaghawa, and Masalit ethnic groups created the Sudan Liberation Army (SLA) and attacked a government airfield on April 25, 2003. then the justice and equality movement (JEM) joined the fight.
