Sugar Act (1764)

Stamp Act (1765)

The British began to tax all stamped goods that came to the colonies. They began to protest more and didn't want taxation unless they had a seat in parliament.

Boston Massacre (1770)

A group of colonists pressured some British troops and they shot and killed several colonists. The colonists began to outrage as this was the first physical combat between the colonies and England.

Tea Act (1773)

England began to tax more goods such as tea. The colonists began to smuggle goods to not pay the tax because they believed they were being taxed unfairly.

Lexington and Concord (1775)

British troops in Boston heard a rumor that colonists were collecting guns and artillery. The colonists heard this and cleared were ready. They fought but by the time the British soldiers made it there was nothing left.

Were the Colonists Justified?

I believe that all of the evidence shows that they were justified in revolting. They were being heavily taxed and targeted by England. So i do believe that what they chose to do was the correct course of action for them to take. They would've kept being presured until they were under complete control of England.
