As a teacher my goal is to have classroom management skills that reflect a culturally responsive and relevant classroom. This means a safe place where students are open to share and participate, demonstrate appropriate behaviour by myself, students, and other staff, and builds strong and meaningful relationships. I think it is important to stay up to date with varying social justice issues in media and in society as it can influence students in more ways than one. This means engaging in the importance of social emotional learning in the classroom. Social emotional learning means creating a classroom environment that reflects healthy identities and management of emotions through the appropriate incorporation of knowledge, skills, attitudes, goals, and decision making. 

 

I believe it is important to be aware of and acknowledge that there are multiple different ways of learning and teaching. This includes incorporating visual, auditory, verbal, kinesthetic, logical, intrapersonal, and interpersonal activities and lessons into the classroom to cater towards all students and make adaptations when necessary.
