Students will identify and define financial literacy in order to gain foundational knowledge on the subject. What do these things mean? Where do I start?) Students will need to brainstorm their own questions and research answers using trusted online resources, the library, and school staff. Students will then participate in a module where they pair up to create a presentation or record a performance providing solutions to common questions about financial literacy (What is it? Why should I be financially literate?).

Students will apply their understanding of finances by working through a module based in an imagined future scenario with a created persona. Throughout the module, they will develop an imaginary person with their own goals for the future, employment, living situations, and finances. Students will then engage in a series of scenarios in the module that will require them to make additional decisions that will impact their ability to accomplish the goals of their persona. This will allow students to see how choices they make could play out in the real-world.

Students participate in a virtual guidance counselor expo that includes representatives from the high school, nearby community colleges, and larger universities to engage in discussions about future planning. Students create a list of questions and concerns that they can present to counselors from all locations in a recorded Zoom session. These sessions can then be cataloged within the e-learning to be viewed asynchronously. To review the information from the expo, students will create a "Passport to the Future", which will include resources and solutions pertinent to their future plans.
