Larp is a game to escape from daily life/ reality, to recover, together.

We are united by the same hobby, so nationalities are completely obsolete.

No one expected to end in a war zone in XXI century.

No one expected to be constantly worried about friends and other local larpers fighting on the front line.

No one expected to be writing this post from a shelter, while there are air attack sirens all over the town.

And no one expected that out world can be so united. It’s an awesome feeling - to understand that you’re not alone.

If even I am gripped by fear and terror by what I read and hear, I wouldn‘t dare to try to understand how horrible it must be for you. Our hearts are breaking for you, we‘re all trying to help in any way accessible to us, collecting medical supplies, food etc. The people are feeling your pain, sending whatever they can. Putting pressure as much as we can and shining a bright light on this war, so truth wins and not lies!

You are staying strong, fighting and protecting yourself, your democracy and with it Democracy in it’s entirety, the best you can, with immense cost to your people and country. It's hard to find any right words in this time.. how could one know what to say, when he has bearly no idea what to do. ....to know that you and your lifes got into all this misery just breaks my heart. even though it feels like that there is not enough that we can do, we just do as much as we can to help. my family and i are preparing rooms and flats for ukrainians to find a spot to be safe. just many many others do in europe. on saturday, for example, the shelves in the stores where empty. but not because some stubborn people panicked over a pandemic, but because people where buying and collecting food to send it to ukrainians in need. i have never seen so much solidarity. it seems like everyone is trying to do something.

For many of us, we find solace in LARP as we detach ourselves from real life's dreadful banality, if only for a short while. Alas, the world has been shook by yet another turmoil, and members of our grand community are being directly affected by conflict and war. Be it Germany, France, Denmark, UK or the Atlantic or Pacific Coasts of the USA, we stand with you! One of our founding members is alive today because of the kindness of strangers. When World War II happened, a young girl with her five sisters and one brother left a city in Belgium after a school of children was bombed on their town, and the factory their father worked at was also destroyed. They stayed in the countryside telling their youngest siblings that this was not the way of the world, things were better and they would be better again. In the Netherlands, a young Jewish boy depended on the kindness of strangers who risked their lives to protect him and hide him. When the light came out, the girl’s father sent for his family to move to Massachusetts where a sister factory was. The Jewish boy was found in an orphanage, and his cousins who escaped to New York arranged to bring him across the ocean. Because of this, these two children became adults, married, and raised three young boys. The oldest of which had a daughter, who is here with us today. She tells you this because when all seems lost, hope finds a way. Hope survives, and hope fights hard, it screams loud, and when the debt cannot be repaid, it pays it forward, in aid, in food, in shelter, in kindness. We stand with you!

We think of you daily and the idea of that madman invading your country literally brings tears to my eyes. Personally there is only so much I can do. However since I work at the dutch railroad company (NS) I can tell you this. Those of you who fled your country and go to mine (or pass through) will have free travel by train to get to whereever in the country you planned to go, provided by my employer, upon showing some form of ukranian id-papers.

Know that we are here for you. Whether you fled with your family or whether you stand and fight, we are thinking of you and hope you will make it through this horror.

I know that everyone in Ukraine and Russia are going through some of the hardest times of their lives right now. I am so sorry for that. Nobody deserves to live in fear of what will happen to them if they speak out against what is happening, or fear of a missile hitting their town or of people invading their homes, businesses, facilities and lives.
I know that there isn’t much I can do personally however I want everyone to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers and that we as a community will fight in whatever way we can for your freedom and peace.

I just want you to know that we care about you, we see your pain and we are fighting for you. My home will be your home if ever you need it. We will welcome you with open arms into our home lands and fight for your right to stay.

There is a word that I hope you will remember: Ubuntu. The definition being, I am because we are. We are not a community because of one person, we are a community because we are all here. You make us whole, and we’re not going to lose you.

My thoughts are with you. I know the times are really rough. I hoped we would never get a situation like this in the Europe ever again. My grandfather always hoped that it is over and never to be repeated again.
I want you to know, it's okay to feel helpless and alone, as if the light just turns dark.

I just want you to be reminded: You're not alone. Each and everyone of you is a beacon of light within themself. And I hope you can see ours aswell, because we try to shine for you.

And as stupid as it might sound, there is a sentence my Mother always said when I was little. It would go something like this: "If you think you can't go on anymore, there will always be a little light shining through."
I hope that this light of hope and peace can guide you a little bit on your way.

Its hard to find the right words these days... But let me try.
In Germany we see the heroes of Ukraine everyday, in the news on, social media or when we talk about the war that putin brought with his army.
Its inspiring that you decide to fight. Because what you do is so much more than fighting. You decide to sent a message, that not even Putin will get you down, you decide to make a statement, that he cant go in someones country and expect that noone stands up to defend even if he comes with an huge force of man and machines and you decided to take a stand your people showed the world what happens and whats possible with an unbreakable will to fight!
Also your fight brought europe together, all other countries sanction Russia, which i believe wasnt an easy decision for some europeans but everyone agreed that you are fighting for the rights of everyone so even if its maybe not the help that your people deserve, we still hope you see it and see that you're not alone.

I hope this nightmare ends soon and putin reminds himself that he by himself is also a human and stops this war!

I wish i had something truly meaningful to say, something that would actually help but i got to be honest, i don't. I lack the words to express all the anger, confusion and fear i feel while reading the news, while seeing what you have to endure while we can only witness.
But at least that we can do.

We used to play war all together, in sunny fields with a good horn of mead waiting for us at the end of the week-end.

But this is no game. There is no joy, no bright colours, and one long month has passed already. You have endured what no one should, and against overwhelming odds here you still are here, standing your ground and waving your banner in front of the criminal hordes.

When all this is over, we hope to see you again, we hope to hear you sing and laugh again.
