2011
When I was almost seven years old, I remember that my mom had received the “Adele 21” album as a gift. The first song that was on the album was “Rolling in the Deep,” so every time we played the disk, that song would come on. I specifically remember always telling my mom to change the song, since it played on the radio 24/7 already. That song is now ingrained in my brain, to say the least.

2013
Every Saturday morning when I was in elementary school, I would wake up early and go downstairs to watch “The Top 20 Countdown” with my dad. The most popular songs and their music videos would play, and for at least five weeks, the song “All of Me” was #1. Because it was played so often, I felt very jubilant when another song had taken its #1 spot.

Winter of 2011
When I was in second grade, my uncle got married in Rome, Italy. While we were on vacation there for two weeks because it was winter break, we had gone to the small town where my grandparents grew up and also Venice, Italy. One night when my family was getting ready to go to dinner, I remember my sister playing “Don’t Stop the Music” on her iPod. My parents kept telling us to quiet down and to start getting ready, but my sister and I ignored them and continued to dance around the room and jump across the beds.

2012
When I had moved from Pittsburgh to Ohio, I was still upset about having to leave all of my friends and family. One day in the summer, my mom and I were out shopping, and a new song was playing on the radio in the car. I assume that she had already heard the song, since she immediately started singing along. The song had reminded me that although I had to leave some of my loved ones behind, my mom would always be there for me. Even now, we will sometimes obnoxiously sing it when we hear it play.

2015
Being the happy and energetic 10 year old I was, I would always find myself dancing alone in the family room. Since we were getting our patio redone at this time, there were people working on it outside. As I continued dancing, I caught a glimpse of one of the workers. It took me long enough to realize that he could see me right through the window and was watching me almost the whole time. Yes, I am still embarrassed to this day.

Winter of 2020
When my friends come over to my house, they always ask if we can play Just Dance. As a dancer, I could never decline this request. For some reason, the dance to this song is our favorite, and it is always the last dance we do. We also turn the volume up on the TV, so my family can hear us screaming the lyrics from downstairs. My friends are still set out to beat me at this dance, but they have not won once.

Summer 2020
During the beginning of summer, my danced studio was having online dance classes. In my lyrical class, one of my teachers had taught a small combination to this song. Because I liked the dance so much, I continued to do it after the class was over. Even now, I still listen to the song, and I think I could do that dance in my sleep.

2017
A few years ago, my dance studio went to compete at nationals in Virginia Beach. The highest scoring dances got the chance to compete again in what they called “The Best of the Best,” which my jazz dance had advanced to. Although we did not win, it is still one of my most favorite dances I have ever competed.

2014
Every year before my studio goes to our first competition, we have a team rehearsal. On this day, we do all of our dances, and there is also food and games. At the end of the night for the past several years, my teachers have played this song, and everyone dances together and gets excited for competition season.

2019
My sister and I have both danced since we were four years old. For so long, my mom had wanted us to do a dance together before she graduated. Because she was a senior last year, we decided to do a duet together. Although we only got the chance to do it once because of the pandemic, I am glad I got to dance with her one last time before she went off to college.
