- I started dancing at age 13 picking up moves and strength so quickly that I was dancing with other girls the same as me would had been dancing since they were 3 or 4. I was considered a ballet prodigy.

- I have danced in many famous ballets in a principal part with ABT such as The Firebird  and Cinderella. I also have danced solos at Prince's concerts. Not only that but I have preformed on Broadway too.

- Since I had a rough childhood growing up poor, I have shown that you don't need to be rich to become a ballet dancer all you need it talent.

- I have written two books, I have my own dance wear line, I am an ambassador for The Boys & Girls Club, and I have my own Barbie doll too.

I didn't enjoy how from the middle to the end of the book things were no longer in perfect chronological order. - I was determined to accomplish my goal of becoming a principal dancer there. I wanted so badly to show the world that anyone can become a ballerina and I wasn't going to let anything stop me.

- If you could go back and change one thing in your life what would it be? 

- I wish that I would have spent more time at home with my siblings and mother. I spent so much time dancing that I didn't really have any extra time to spend with them. Especially once I moved to New York and they were all the way in California I didn't see them often enough.

- If you could get one message across to all the kids in America what would it be?

- I would tell them to never ever give up on their dreams. You can do anything as long as you believe in yourself and continue on in determination.

Cindy is the one who got her interested in ballet.  The primary conflict was Misty's struggle to do well in the ballet world as a black ballerina. This is because she was many times discriminated for her skin color since some believed there is no place in classical ballet for a black girl.

b. What was the book's theme or lesson? Give evidence to support your claim.
 The theme of the book is that you can do anything as long as you stay determined. The theme is also to never give up on your dreams. Misty knew it would be extremely difficult to become a principal dancer at ABT but she wasn't going to let her skin color stop her from achieving her dreams.

c. How was the setting significant to the life of the main character? Would her life have been different in another time/place? Why? Use evidence from the book to explain.  The setting of the story was very important to Misty's life. If she hadn't have lived in San Pedro, California at the time that she did she would have never met the drill team coach who sent her to the ballet teacher who taught the ballet class at the San Pedro Boys & Girls Club. This ballet teacher, Cindy Bradley, started up her ballet career and made it possible for her to become a ballerina. Therefore she probably would have never become a ballerina if she didn't live in San Pedro as a child.

d. If you were o make a plot line for the life of the main character, what would be the climax or ultimate point of tension? Why do you believe this to be true?
The night that she preformed the Firebird with ABT was probably the climax of the story. I believe this to be true because this was the first performance with ABT where she had a principal role (she played the Firebird). and there was a lot riding on it. In addition, she had been suffering from very severe pain in her lower leg.

e. How was the book organized in relation to time? Was it in chronological order? Were there flashbacks? Give examples to support your statements.
 The book was primarily in chronological order because it started at the time she was little and ended at the age she is now. Yes, there was some flashback in it too. It occurred towards the end where she would tell about an event that happened and then go back a year or maybe a couple of months to tell about a different event that related.
