Aims and Objectives of the Code of Conduct

The aims and objectives of the Code of Conduct for Facilitators employed by Batam Polytechnic and PENS are as follows:

· The aim of the Code of Conduct is to ensure that Facilitators behave at all times in 

an ethical and professional manner which reflects credit on both themselves and 

the Institute

· The objective of the Code of Conduct is to provide guidelines in respect of:

 

- Dress code

Facilitators are expected to dress in a manner consistent with their position. While undue formality of dress is not required the Facilitator is expected to dress in at least a “smart casual” mode. It is not considered acceptable to wear shorts, athletics shoes, jeans, T-shirts or similar clothes. 

 

- Relationships with learners

The relationship between Facilitator and Learner is crucial to the learning process. Undue or excessive familiarity is to be discouraged as it erodes the proper distance that should be maintained between Facilitator and Learner. On the other hand the 

Facilitator should not create so great a distance between him/herself and the Learner that communication between them is stifled or destroyed.

 

- Relationships with other employees of the Institute

It is inevitable that Facilitators will have contact with other employees of the Institute and it is the Facilitators’ responsibility to ensure that all such contact takes place on a professional basis.

 

- Preparation and conduct of lectures

Facilitators will at all times devote the necessary time and effort to the proper preparation of each and every session that they facilitate. 

 

 

- Ethical issues

There are certain areas where Facilitators must be aware of the need to act in 

an ethical manner at all times. These include:

+Respect for Confidentiality

+Respect for Other Facilitators

+Respect for the Institute

+Promotion of the Institute

+Integrity of Summative Assessments
