         <title>St. Basil&#39;s Cathedral, Russia</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Saint Basil's Cathredal in Moscow was built between 1555 and 1561. It was commisioned by Tsar Ivan IV, also known as Ivan the Terrible.</p><p><br/></p><p>The cathedral was built to commemorate the capture of the Khanate Of Kazan in 1552</p><p><br/></p><p>The structure consists of red bricks and white stone used for the foundation. The cathedral's distinctive appearance have onion-shaped domes that are made of metal and painted with colorful patterns</p><p><br/></p><p>Did you know? The colorful domes represent the different chapels within the cathedral, and each dome is a symbol for the assault on the city of Kazan</p><p><br/></p><p>Legend has it that the cathedral’s builder was blinded post-construction so that a structure of it’s beauty could never be built again</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

The shape was based on a latin cross.</p><p><br/></p><p>•The Cologne Cathedral holds the record for the longest construction period for a major building, taking over six centuries to complete </p><p><br/></p><p>•The Cathedrals foundations are built on the remains of Roman ruins, adding another layer to it's historical significance.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>• When was it Built &amp; for what: The Colosseum was built in 72-80AD (Anno Domini). This stucture was made for presenting spectacles of great popular appeal, such as animal hunts and gladiatorial games.</p><p><br/></p><p>• Architecture: The materials that were used in this structure is limestone, tuff, brick-face concrete. The shapes that were used are... ellipse, rectangles, triangle, circles, and etcetera. </p><p><br/></p><p>• Facts: In its early years, the Colosseum was sometimes flooded for mock naval battles (naumachiae), but these ceased once underground structures were added. After Rome’s fall, the Colosseum was reused as a fortress, shrine, and quarry, supplying stones for other buildings like St. Peter’s Basilica.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><p>The Cathedral of Brasilia was made in September 12, 1958. The building was finalized in May 31 1970. The function of this building is to serve as a place of worship and religious ceremonies.</p></li><li><p>The Cathedral of Brasilia was designed by Oscar Niemeyer, is primarily built with reinforced concrete, metal and glass and features a distinctive hyperboloid shape.</p></li><li><p>The designer of the cathedral, Oscar Niemeyer designed the columns to resemble hands reaching towards heaven, symbolizing humanity’s connection the divine. 2.          <title>Sydney Opera House</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The structure was built in October, 20, 1973. The purpose of the Sydney Opera House is for performance, a world class performing art centre. The materials used for the Sydney Opera house is from a mix  of structural concrete, steel, and glass. And the shaped is inspired by series of interlocking shell-like forms. It took 14 years to built but the originally planned for 4 years but between engineering challenges and political drama, it stretched from 1959 to 1973. Way over budget- the cost estimate was $7 million Australian dollar but the final cost was $102 million Australian dollar, and</p><p>A venue for more than opera-despite the name, it hosts concert, plays, ballets, comedy shows, and even pop performances such as Beyonce, Foo fighters, and more.</p>]]></description>
