Alternate history is a scenario in which our world was slightly changed in the past or certain elements of our history collided together (Such as if the Nazis won WW2 or if samurai fought vikings).

The what if theory usually describes a timeline in where a major event from the past was altered in some way such as:

What if the Nazis won WW2?

What if JFK hadn't been shot?

What if the cold war had lead to nuclear strikes?

What if society fell under a dystopian leadership?

What if humans had evolved differently?

These don't necessarily have to be major event but for the purposes of interesting storytelling they usually are.

"Ancient Greece was a large area in the northeast of the Mediterranean Sea, where people spoke Greek. It was much bigger than the Greece we know today. It was the civilization of Greece, from the archaic period of the 8th/6th centuries BC to 146 BC. The period ended with the Roman conquest of Greece in the Battle of Corinth.

For most of this time the Greeks did not have a single government or ruler. There were a number of city states, each with its own constitution. Athens, Sparta and Corinth are examples. Some had kings, and some, like Athens, had a form of democracy. As time went on, the most powerful cities collected other cities into confederations known as "leagues". This applied to many of the Greek colonies in Asia Minor, most of which had close ties to one or other of the big three cities.

In the middle of this period was classical Greece, which flourished during the 5th to 4th centuries BC. Athenian leadership successfully repelled the threat of Persian invasion in the Greco-Persian Wars. The Athenian golden age ends with the defeat of Athens at the hands of Sparta in the Peloponnesian War in 404 BC.
In the last, Hellenistic, period Greece was unified by the conquests of Alexander the Great. The city states continued, under the overall influence of Macedonia.
Greek culture had a powerful influence on the Roman Empire, which carried a version of it to many parts of the Mediterranean region and Europe. In this way, classical Greece was part of the foundation of Western civilization. Greek was also the language, and partly the culture, of the Byzantine Empire." - Wikipedia

What if the Romans hadn't conquered Greece?

What if the city states of Greece had unified earlier?

What if the Greek had interacted with the Egyptians to a higher extent? The Greeks and the Egyptians had minimal interactions so what if they had traded knowledge and supplies more? Would they have grown faster intellectually and would we as a result be further as a civilization. Would they have been able to form an alliance to conquer the rest of the surrounding area

What if the Vikings had invaded Ancient Greece? What if the Vikings existed in the same era as the Ancient Greeks and how would the Greeks handle an invasion from the Vikings? We know that states such as Sparta were heavily trained in combat and would it have been possible for the states to come together and fight the vikings?

What if...
1. I like this idea Sam, the Roman Empire would not have been as knowledgeable without Greece.

2. I would need a little more information or story-line for this What If scenario as I don't know a lot about the unification of the city states of Greece.

Both these scenarios would be easy to collect secondary research images for the Grecian imagery as there are many films sets that can be used for Interior. The problem may be for collecting Roman-esque decor.

3. I like the idea of these two civilisations melding together more, I think you could create interesting visuals as both had a particular art style that has been explored in various games and films, so images will be easy to come across.

4. This is another interesting concept, the visuals could be interesting and unusual. Sourcing Viking based interior imagery could be problematic.

I started by create the two horizontal lines that run close to the center and then created a set of rectangular objects along both side. The red dot indicates where I want the point of origin so I drew a thin grey line from that to every corner of rectangle that faced it. I then went over those lines to create the effect you see below so it looks almost as if you have a birds eye view of a city street. In summary I'm fairly happy with this even though some parts a bit rough. In future I could try changing the origin point to create different sorts of perspectives.
