Eliza makes great progress and becomes a lady in no time. She moves out of Professor Higgins's house, because he is rude to her. It predominately takes place in Professor Higgins' home in which the speech lessons are taking place for Eliza Doolittle. The significance of the setting shows how important society and the image you portray. If you didn't look, talk, or act like the elite they would shun you from their groups. These groups were very tightly wound and only a few were welcomed. Professor Higgins: He is very ignorant, indifferent, and very intelligent. He does not want anyone to get too close to him, he does not want anyone special in his life. He pushes everyone away with his bluntness.

Colonel Pickering: He is reserved, cautious, and considerate. There were a few things that I didn't enjoy about the play, and that was how Professor Higgins treated Eliza. She had done nothing to him to deserve that kind of treatment. The play kind of opened my eyes to the way things were back then for women.
