Originally I had intended to have a collage of hands in reds/whites/blues reaching out menacingly towards a melting pot of people,protected by a blue outline that is reminiscent of a skyline. The mingling breath of white acrylic paint on a bare background communicates really well what the poem made me envision, and the red bubbles add the contrast of this intriguing bareness with a bit of excitement that isnt overwhelmingly "cheery". I like the contrast of the grid paper and a stark background.  The kitchen counter top/table conveniently looks like an abstract granite slab, which may be my favorite part. The blurry black figure is barred and held back by words, underneath an American flag. I began working with mediums other than pencil, and I've learned that oil is something I really really enjoy using on a canvas. The plethora of figure studies I completed helped me understand proportions and how the body works. I by far developed my collaging skills, and learned a lot more about composition and structure. I would love to continue with abstraction, as its always been my favorite style of art. I hope to continue working with oils, and develop more of my own style.
