These tasks are differentiated in class. Students working at General Capabilities 1b, 1c, 1d will be offered a choice of ways to demonstrate their understanding of the task.

1B - Literacy General Capabilities   

Comprehending: Demonstrate anticipation of predictable events. When Annie comes, we listen to a story, and then we move down to Bush School.  

Composing: Express a preference  

Once they get to bush school, we choose what are they are doing.  

1C - Literacy General Capabilities  

Comprehending: Respond to requests  

Transitioning down to Bush School  

Attending to Bush School routines, e.g. choosing preferred activity.  

Composing: Requests items, people or events present at the time  

Children will make a comment about the creations that have been designed or built.

1D - Literacy General Capabilities  

Comprehending: Respond to questions, sequence events and identify information from texts with familiar structures  

 Transitioning down to Bush School,  

Attending to Bush School routines, e.g. choosing a preferred activity.  

Composing: Conveys knowledge about learning area topics  

Responding to questions about the design process.

Using hand drills has been a culmination of the tool use that we have been doing down in Bush School. As part of the unit students have been assisted to experiment with tools. As part of this activity students have been explicitly taught how to use tools safely.
