I LOVED the linguistic culture shares. They helped me feel closer to everyone. I loved how we shared bilingual children's books. I also loved the autoethnography project. I liked how we sat in a semi-circle every class. I loved the timeline activity. I also liked how we went to the migration event and to the IME conference as part of class time. I liked being a facilitation anchor with another student. All the readings were also super powerful! I liked how they were organized/hyperlinked onto the class syllabus. I learned so much in this class!

I really enjoyed the linguistic autoethnography project- it provided an excellent opportunity for self reflection and personal growth about my experience with bilingualism in education. I also loved seeing the class's linguistic family trees! The living syllabus was also very helpful. I liked the amount of collective work in class and learning from peers' experience in the field. I also loved going to all of the various events included in the course!

I wish we had had time to share our autoethnographies and visuals with the whole class rather than in 2-3 groups, because I would have loved to see every classmate's visual. I also think that it would have been better to write our final definition of bilingualism as a discussion post or separate assignment rather than trying to cram it in with the autoethnography or final project, because I felt like mixing our elongated definition with the other assignments affected the flow of those papers. Other than those things, this was an overall amazing class, and I am so grateful for all the dynamic activities and thoughtfulness you put into everything. Thank you!

I struggled with the online class session and structure of that particular facilitation- would have preferred an opportunity to meet and discuss with a small group live over zoom. I also wish that the online session had coordinated more with other courses in the building as I still had to come in to the city both teaching weekends (my other course was remote on a different day) but that just comes down to unavoidable schedule conflicts.

Sometimes I felt like we could have used class time in a more structured way, and I felt like there could have been more learning through the lecture format to put the readings in context. Also I would have loved more unstructured discussion - like in a seminar where you get to hear from everyone. Small groups sometimes make it hard to hear a wide range of people's stories and perspectives. I also wish we could have heard people's culture shares earlier on so we could know everyone in the class earlier. It was a really humanizing part of class. would have loved for it to be in the beginning of class versus end, also. And then sharing the autoethnographies a bit could have built on that.

As someone navigating bilingualism across Nepali and English, her guidance helped me reflect on my own journey as an immigrant student, parent, and educator. Her teaching style is kind, supportive, and exceptionally well-organized, which created a welcoming environment for all students. After yesterday's last classes of the beginning of a journey, I am nourished. I am nourished by the intellect of this community. Intellect for us, by us and with us. USF is a an academic affinity space that has nurtured a part of me I did not know could be nurtured. And so with deep gratitude for profa being a part of that with this class and so much more, onward and forward.
