One of my favorites, which could be easily adapted to online learning and other subjects, was: The students were learning about different types of shots and editing choices. I chose a clip from a film that had a wide variety of each in a very short sequence. I did a mini lecture that reviewed some of the lecture content about the different shots. Then, I showed the clip once, telling the students to silently try to notice as much as they could. Then, we re-watched the section, and I had the students call out whatever they saw when they saw it.
