The Ukrainian Revolution by Cassidy

The Ukrainian Revolution began February 18, 2014 and it ended February 23, 2014. It took place in Kiev, Ukraine. Another name that this revolution is most often called the Euromaidan Revolution. The Ukrainian people, their president Viktor Yanukovych, and Russia were all involved in the Ukrainian revolution. On February 22 the parliament votes to remove the president.On the 27 they got a new prime minister.The cause of the revolution was the procrastination of the 2004 amendments to the constitution of Ukraine. Also the Ukrainian people were upset about the president raising taxes. when a few changes happened in a quick succession in Ukraine's social political system. It happened after violent events towards protestors in the capital of Kiev. There were at least 79 civilians and 570 were injured and 13 officers were killed and 130 were hospitalized. The results were that the president was overthrown and fled to Russia. The constitution remained the same as it was from 2004-2010.

Ukraine's president, Viktor Yanukovych, was thrown out of power duringthe revolution because he had delayed many times the adding in the amendments to the constitution of Ukraine.

There are many similarities and differences between the revolutions from the 1700s and 1800s to present day. One major difference is that present day revolutions cause more death than they did in the previous years. Another difference is that in the American and French revolutions they had more to gain than the Ukrainian people did. They are similar by how they both still involve the majority of the population of that country and how they are done to get something to change that needs to be changed for the better of the people. They wanted their natural rights and their other given rights back. Even though they were in different time periods they still had the same ideas of personal freedoms.
