The students calculated how far the marshmallow would travel to be able to hit a target. We held a tournament at the end of the project which was a lot of fun! The students then did an personal reflection using Flipgrid (SSS - Success, Struggle, Surprise) where they talked about something that was successful in the project, something they struggled with, and something they were surprised by. This was a fun project and ended up taking almost a week to fully complete.

Nikki helped me to develop this lab to observe the impact of beak shape on an individual's ability to eat a variety of foods. Students were given the option of a variety of beaks (binder clip, clothes pin, fork, spoon, and forceps/ tweezers) and 4 food sources (macaroni, paper clip, rubber bands, and toothpicks). They were timed for 20 second at each island with a different food source. They had to compete with their neighbors to get the most food in their stomach (cup). Class data was gathered on a shared Google Sheets document.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1-2apx2loBOc90s5omrLO4xQ0tT2sh7kL

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wK8Vc23mg8jf7xDkOtX6ghk3kPATHEt9WVPk0F7YSdk

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1SjMNoLvimnRATOOL0acXebauqEkohPFY9TQldVld6Ew

Digital Portfolios for Art 1, 2, 3, and
I collaborated with Mr. Burgess and Mrs. Norsworthy to teach students about the basics of Google Sites and create digital portfolios of their creations in art. They will develop these portfolios over the years they are involved in art classes at Eastside and be able to link them digitally or as a QR code to college applications.

Catapult Project - Quadratic Modeling
The students built catapults and used marshmallows to find data that they then used to find a quadratic equation that best modeled their data.
