The French and Indian war was a 7 year long war between Britain and France. Many Native Americans sided with the French because they treated the Native Americans more fairly. The fighting began in 1754, but the war was not officially declared until 1756. The whole entire reason they were fighting was for the control of much of North America. This war was apart of a larger war that was going on in Europe.

These laws stopped all trade between Boston and Britain, did not allow town meetings, gave Britain control of the colony of Massachusetts, and strengthened the Quartering Act. Since the port of Boston was closed, the trading of goods between the colonies also stopped which greatly impacted the economies of all the colonies.

In 1775 the British government stopped ignoring the events which were leading to a war of independence. They were beginning to think that colonists were a serious threat. The members of the congress were so scattered throughout the countryside, so General Gage decided to destroy all the weapons and ammunition he had heard was stored in Concord, Massachusetts. Colonists had been busy preparing for the British forces. When the battle started Pitcairn ordered his men to surround and disarm the militia, meanwhile the militia were ordered to disperse. No one knows if it was a militiamen or a British soldier that fired the first shot. It doesn't matter whoever it was, because the British started shooting. They killed 8 colonists and wounded 10 more. After the war in Lexington, the British headed to Concord. They wanted to destroy all the weapons they could find at Concord. Which resulted in a battle.
