Responding to various writing settings requiring deliberate changes in structure, medium, design, level of formality, tone, and/or voice is one of the learning objectives. Tone and voice were my main concerns while writing this essay. I investigated how and why particular texts behave in a certain way. I was concentrating on the college students who were debating my major. After I determined that my analysis was going to be aimed at an academic audience, I had to think deeply about what I needed to include in my research for me to attain my goal. I ended up deciding to use two academic-based articles. To make my article sound more academic, I chose this article format so that I could quote from and reference other articles. I had to pay close attention to what I wanted my writing's audience and purpose to be. After I determined that my analysis was going to be aimed at an academic audience, I had to think deeply about what I needed to include in my research for me to attain my goal. In order to fully explain everything, I made sure to describe every element in my writing and chose words carefully. I purposefully changed my tone and speech to assist my project sound more conversational and personable. Which information source had more merit was what I was concentrating on. I contrasted the two pieces based on their composition, use of language, and selection of references. I went back through my essay after presenting my case and added extra material and detail.

I feel like I've already learned a lot from our first essay. My development as a writer was greatly aided by the preparation I did for essay 1. Because of the extra personal element, the personal narrative I had to write forced me really consider the information I was giving the reader. Every word had to count, which was challenging for me because I was used to just throwing random garbage into my writing as filler. I was now forced to pay attention to my tone and writing style. Additionally, figuring out how I was going to explain the essay's purpose was difficult because, while it was simple to understand what you were trying to say, articulating your purpose and then trying to make the audience understand it were both difficult. Additionally, having reliable sources for the argument I was attempting to construct was crucial because doing so will make your audience more likely to believe what you are saying and want to read what you have to say. In this world, it is more important to know who you know than what you know, and writing is no exception. I had to cut out wordy sentences from my essay to convey the idea. I discovered that when writing an essay, it's important to strike the right balance between being informational. It's almost like blending fact with opinion to support the opinion. This particular assignment helped me develop the research and critical thinking abilities that would later be useful to us when working on my first significant project.

I encountered both many accomplishments and difficulties while finishing this project. The hardest part for me was narrowing down the sites I wanted to focus on during the brainstorming stage because I had so many destinations in mind. I chose Grand Canyon because environmental activism has long interested me, and I wanted to inform my readers about what I discovered there. As I incorporated several facts, ethical debates, and sensory aspects into this project, my story employed logos, ethos, and pathos to appeal to the audience. I decided against doing a fotonovela because I thought it would be challenging to carefully plan out the placement of my photographs and communicate my information. I chose to use the StoryMap standards of written portions complementing images and videos and a single page that the viewer may browse across as my model. I deviated from one genre standard by including posts from my personal social media accounts. To appeal to and make my digital story more accessible to my intended audience of young people, I decided to add social media updates. found the designing phase to be very simple, and I felt that the StoryMap format helped me to communicate my tale succinctly. Regarding the documentation of my work, there was another convention. Documenting my work in APA format was a completely new ability I acquired. I had to use MLA format in my previous classes before this one. I mastered the art of APA in-text citations. This helped me comprehend various informational structures, designs, and styles in relation to my target audience, purpose, and genre.

This form helped me how to revision my essay and compare my draft and final. We started with the rough manuscript, and when we write our second rough draft, we consider particular writing characteristics. We examined style, clarity, and grammar in this task. I updated the prepositions and prepositional phrases, as well as the compact writing and unclear shifts. I adjusted various project components to better suit my target audience. I will read out loud any writing that contains unrealistic dialogue, cliched phrase structure, or other mistakes. Then, there is something to be said for starting revisions while the work is still fresh, especially if you tend to procrastinate. Letting my work sit may enable me to look at it with fresh eyes. I work on my essay's revision and editing to make substantial improvements. Both play a crucial role in the writing process. Being a member of a peer-review group will not only keep my writing on track, but it will also provide me the opportunity to workshop ideas, enhance my written communication, and get helpful comments from an audience that is not likely to be my advisor or committee. The part of a performance evaluation, when I get to focus on myself and think about my strengths and limitations, is the self-assessment section. They are crucial for both personal and professional development. The skills of delivering and receiving it can be developed with practice. This will teach you how people interpret your remarks and help you develop your ability to provide constructive criticism. I revised it to focus on the analysis of the texts. I added paragraphs that introduce each source with the rhetorical situation (purpose, genre, audience, and context). Added more specifically here regarding purpose. I used one of the four methods of quote integration to introduce. I added a hypothesis about the specific target audience and I added 2 appeal methods I am addressing and is this section on logos and ethos. I added more quotes from other sources because it helped me find more ideas to complete my essay. I revised and there are some inconsistencies and clarity is needed. I need to italicize and remove quotation marks for the title. Also, like books, titles of films are italicized (with no quotation marks). I change specific aspects of my writing to be more clear and be grammatically correct. I can improve by analyzing my work and conduct and gaining new perspectives. This goal allows us to reflect on my work and determine how to enhance it while also assisting my peers with my modifications.

It was a review of the errors I made in my project, as well as the areas I paid attention to. The ability to leave comments on Google Docs was helpful while reflecting.

I had no idea what to anticipate when I arrived for my first day of English 102. As the course progressed, I became aware that it would take a lot of my time and patience to succeed in this course. Through shorter weekly assignments, like discussion posts, the four-course objectives of mastering rhetorical awareness, critical thinking, reflection, and revision, along with conventions were all practiced. I was presented with fresh ideas in English 102, which pushed me to become a more thoughtful, accountable writer. For instance, the two main assignments in English 102 were to create a fieldwork journal which I had never been given before. I have improved as a writer significantly as a result of the tasks and large projects that English 102 required me to accomplish. Before writing, determining my audience helps me ensure that my sources are relevant. Along with choosing the audience, I became aware that I could also choose the tone of my writing. After discovering this, my writing became much more focused. For instance, I had to make sure that my writing sounded academic to appeal to an academic audience as my rhetorical analysis was academic. Through English 102, I was able to improve my writing so that it was more than just a homework assignment. To make my writing sound much better in my upcoming college courses, I intend to use this new writing style.

I could hone talents that I previously lacked or had little to no expertise in during this course. We have learned so much this semester, and it has strengthened and improved my writing, text-analysis skills, critical-thinking abilities, and so much more. Before enrolling in this course, I had little to no experience in analyzing rhetorical situations in texts, comprehending the conventions associated with them, and applying the knowledge I had gained to my assignments and other works. I've learned how to use these many components in my writing thanks to this lesson, which will help me later on as I grow my abilities. The various assignments I completed and the abilities I developed as a result of the work that was done during the semester show the progress I achieved. This semester felt as though I had entered new culture “Border South” for the idea of “in-between-ness,” which was being in the middle of where I live on the south side of Tucson, being a part of my community, and Hispanic culture. Through the various assignments we've had this semester, we've covered a lot of the course's objectives and goals. Numerous assignments have discussed Rhetorical Awareness, one of the course goals. The significance of this particular course aim was strongly underlined by one of the significant projects that were due in class. When I returned home, I was met with a barrage of questions and had to scramble to find answers so I wouldn't let my family down. I had no one else's experience or advice. I was able to put my family's common history and culture-which forge an unbreakable relationship and keep me connected to my neighborhood-into perspective. I encountered and learned how to execute a wide variety of learning objectives and abilities while preparing for the second big assignment. The accomplishment of the second project aided in highlighting our third-course goal, Conventions. where we discovered numerous formats in which to showcase various themes and ideas. It was then used in a new method and presented in a different format using the information that had been assessed and obtained from the initial project. This taught us how to arrange, style, and create material according to the goal and genre of our audience. Many of the assignments that we completed to prepare for creating our annotated bibliography required us to use various skills that relate to the second-course goal, Critical Thinking, and Composing. Evaluating Sources was one particular artifact that contributed to the development of abilities related to the course goal of critical thinking and composition. This particular assignment helped us develop the research and critical thinking abilities that would later be useful to us when working on our first significant project. Workshop and Revision, the fourth and last course aim, required us to grasp how to use previous projects as a model for future work as well as seek our peers for feedback on how we might be able to improve. We conducted numerous peer reviews and in-depth comments on the projects that were due during the semester throughout this course. Our peer review was one particular task that pertains to this course goal. By completing this task, we may use the corrections made by our classmates to reflect on our work and determine how to make it better while also assisting with theirs. My assignments are all personal narratives that tell a meaningful tale about events I've had and help me learn more about myself, my community, and my Latinx culture. Despite my initial concerns, I did advance much more than I anticipated. I was able to learn more about Tucson and what my home means to me thanks to the emphasis on Latinx writers. This strengthens my ability to see injustices and speak up for the marginalized in my future identity as a writer. The degree to which I was able to comprehend and complete the course learning objectives was significantly impacted by the course study. After taking the course and completing the homework, I learned a lot that will improve both my writing and my comprehension of particular readings. My ability to apply critical thinking, investigation, problem-solving, and so much more in my work has improved my ability to comprehend another person's thought process when I read. I am now able to take the rhetorical situation I discovered in the first-course objective and incorporate it into my readings and future writing. After finishing this semester and reviewing all of my finished work, I can now see how much progress I have made in this course and how I can apply what I have learned to become a better writer and reader.
