Interviewer:Hello and good afternoon to everyone. And welcome back to our program. Today we have such an important guest with us. She is the first self-made female billionaire in Turkey. She’s honored by Successful Female Entrepreneur of Year by Microsoft in 2016 and been in the Top 50 Most Successful Female Programmer in Global in 2020. Here is Hande Çilingir. Thank you for joining us today Hande are you?
Hande Çilingir: Thank you. It’s an honor to be here with you.

Interviewer:Let’s start with the questions then
After you graduated from the London School of Economics & Management, you went to Shanghai to postgraduate in International Chinese and Culture. So many different cultures and places has effected your study. How hard would you rate this adventure that took years of hard working?

Hande Çilingir:Of course, getting used to new cultures and changing living conditions was a challenge at first. But the thought of giving up never crossed my mind. I worked hard day and night and finally succeeded.

Interviewer:You are now known as an unicorn entrepreneur which means that your company has been on business for less than 10 years but it already worths billions of dollars. It’s the biggest position that any programmer/entrepreneur can ever achieve.
What advices would you give to someone who’s been sharing the same dreams with you? To all those who wants to be a successful programmer or an unicorn entrepreneur?

Hande Çilingir:There is a saying that believing is half the battle, this is really true. When the fear of failure grips you, fire it immediately. Send positive messages to the universe. Most importantly, don’t listen those who try to divert you from your path.

Interviewer:You and your friends company “Insider” has made you come in this position that you guys are in right now. My question is, what exactly is “Insider”, why would people need that and how did you guys come up with such an idea?
Hande Çilingir:Insider is a software company that provides tools to increase sales for e-commerce sites. I thought why a country like Türkiye shouldn’t have a software company and I followed this path and I founded my company.

Interviewer:Creating something such big and worthy takes time and of course lots of effort. My last question is, what was the hardest thing to deal with while the time that you and your friends were studying on programming and creating this company? Did you guys ever thought about giving up? If so, what made you guys to chase your dreams and not to give up?
Hande Çilingir:I said that at the first question. I never thought giving up. Each time, I kept myself afloat with the thought that one day I would be rewarded form my work. Being away from my family was the hardest thing for me but if I am here now, it’s thanks to their support.

5 or 6 years ago we went to İzmir to visit our relatives. At that time I was using some medicines and due to the effects of these medicines I went out one night in a sleepy state and closed the door. I did not do this on purpose. I was acting unconsciously. When I heard the door closing, I came to my senses and started knocking on the door. The fact that it was late at night scared me even more. The sounds coming from outside also increased this fear. Nearly 5 minutes I knocked the door. But nobody heard me. After 5 minutes, my mother came and took me inside. My mother slept with me to prevent the same thing from happrning again. We called the doctor the morning of the same night and the doctor told me not to use the medicine. And nothing lihe this over happened again.

STUDYING REGULARLY EVERY DAY OR WORKING ON THE LAST DAY?

Exams are almost every student's nightmare. As exams approach , most students become stressed. I believe that no one will deny this. But I think that the methods followed during difficult exam weeks are very effective in succes in exams.

To start with the first of these methods: Studying regularly every day. Studying regularly every day ensures long-term learning. Thanks to this method, we not only save today also make our job easier for future exams. But it can be difficult to control this pattern every day. In such times, we can regain our motivation by resting ourselves.

On the other hand there is a method like working on the last day. Studying for an exam on the last day is not learning. It is just a memorising. What you studied right before the exam, you need to repeat for the next exam. And this wastes time.

In conclusion although working regularly may seem boring, it is necessary for success. People with high goals should work regularly and efficiently until they achieve success.

My great grandpa was born into a happy family in a small village in 1912. His father was a farmer, and his mother was a housewife, like most families in those days. He wanted to be a scientist when he grew up. He was very good at studies and always got scores. His teachers constatly told him that he needed to get better education. My grandpa told these words of the teachers to his parents. No matter how much his family wanted to him to get a good education, they didn't have enough money. My grandfather didn't insist further so as not to leave his family in a difficult situation. But he never stopped working. He always improved himself with the books he found in the school library. After graduating from high school information spread that there would be a scholarship exam for one of the best universities of that time in the village. My grandfather immediatly applied as soon as he heard the news. He took the exam and received to study at university with a 100% scholarship. After graduating from university, he achieved his dreams and achieved many successes. At the end, his family and village people were proud of him.
