With her sister, and later Hannie Schaft, ambushed and killed German Nazis. Freddie and her sister Truus, grew up in the city of Harlem with a single working-class mother. Their mother taught them the importance of fighting for what is right and justice.

Freddie and Taurus joined their mother and helped spread disturbing anti-Nazi newspapers for the resistance. The Tasks were dangerous. If anyone caught what the sisters were doing they would have killed them. They didn’t think anything of it because they were both young females, so they didn’t think anything of it. This was one of the reasons why they were recruited to the Haarlem resistance.

The leader of the Haarlem resistance even trusted the two sisters to go on missions themselves and kill the nazis. Both sisters died at age 92, Truus died in 2016 and Freddie died on September 5, 2018, one day before turning 93. In 2014, the sisters both were recognized and received national recognition.
