She even keeps a long bucket list on her phone for skateboarding and bungee jumping.

Although she’s excited about studying in the States, since English is not her mother tongue, she sometimes struggles to understand class discussions fully. However, she actively seeks ways to overcome this challenge. She listens to podcasts and watches YouTube videos in her spare time to improve her language skills. With her passion for learning and curiosity about the world, there is no doubt that she will thrive in her graduate program and future career.

During high school, mathematics provided Joseph the opportunity to quench his thirst for knowledge, leading him to pursue a degree in applied mathematics at the University of Washington. While in college, he developed an interest in physics. To fulfill a credit requirement, he took a drama class and built a strong camaraderie with his drama professor, which led him to venture further into drama.

This connection inspired him to enroll in a course tangentially related to communications, which opened the door to exploring journalism. He discovered that constructing a profile on someone aligned with his passion for solving puzzles, offering an intellectually stimulating challenge that resonated with his interests. Over the next two years, he pursued and completed a degree in communications.

Joseph became a journalist working on magazines, where he learned how to prepare, create, and edit every page. His interviews felt personal and effortless; his insightful questions encouraged interviewees to open up in unexpected ways. He recalls spending three days avidly preparing to interview the governor of the state, eager to seize the opportunity. In another instance, he submitted foyer requests to gather fire data from King County, producing illustrative aids to enhance his article's clarity.

He finds joy in piecing together puzzles to create something amazing. With experience ranging from applied mathematics to investigative journalism, Joseph has gathered a unique set of skills that help him tackle problems most people wouldn't even know where to start.
