How do you predict this course might be valuable to you?
I look forward to hearing how other teachers around the state managed the past 16 months of teaching. What worked really well for others? What did people do to take care of themselves when the day-to-day became overwhelming? Connecting with other educators who also just went through one of their hardest years ever will be helpful as I prepare for the next year.

What are your intentions/goals for your learning in this course?
I hope to learn strategies for reaching out to students who are not engaging in the virtual classroom. What are things I can do as a teacher to "check the temp" during virtual teaching and bring back students and families who may have fallen off the radar?

How do you predict this course might be valuable to you?
I'm hopeful that hearing from a variety of educators in schools across the state will help me build a community in the virtual void. While I have a very supportive school community, one of the difficult things to negotiate in our remote reality last year was feeling isolated from the rest of my department/school. It seems to me that it's critical to establish ways for educators to feel plugged into something larger than just their own classes on Google. That, in turn, I hope will allow students to feel engaged as well.

What are your intentions/goals for your learning in this course?
I want to connect with other educators and develop techniques for students to be more engaged within a virtual curriculum . . . and for me to feel that way as well!

I want to be able to have more tools to make it meaningful and be able to teach with out "watering it down." I think that this course can help me develop tools and learn new skills when it comes to remote teaching. Padlet, for example, it a resource that I have never used and Can now utilize it in the future if I need to.
What are your intentions/goals for your learning in this course?
My intentions and goals are to learn more skills and resources so that if I am teaching virtually again, I will be able to make it meaningful, engaging, and as detailed as if I had everyone in class.

When I received this email from the DOE (emails I usually ignore, sorry!), I was very excited to see how visionary NH was in offering this to teachers. I also really enjoy reading the experiences, perspectives, and opinions of other teachers.

What are your intentions/goals for your learning in this course?

I hope to create my own vision of my class for the post-2020 environment. I also hope to gain more knowledge to be able to help move my department to incorporate a variety of instructional methods and tools. Ultimately, I hope at the high school level, we see more hybrid type classes in which students could be face to face for 2-3 days and then do asynchronous work at their own pace for 2-3 days. But in order for that to happen, more students, teachers, administrators, and parents need to believe in online/remote learning.

I feel that many aspects of remote learning can be implemented within my in-person instruction to engage students and promote academic achievement. Additionally, there will always be the possibility of utilizing remote instruction again, as we have shown that it can be done. This course will only help me prepare for that possibility.

I think this course will be valuable to me by teaching me different ways to shape instruction that not only can reach student's remotely, but also by expanding my classroom connections with families, and by also helping student's develop their self reliance.

What are your intentions/goals for your learning in this course?
My intentions for this course is to develop more tools for remote learning. I have used the Flipped Classroom model quite heavily in the past and I feel that this course can provide me with more tools and practices to incorporate into that model. I also think ti will help me to reshape my curriculum planning in the future with new skills to help students become more independent and self-driven.

Usefulness, intentions and Goals

Usefulness/Value of this course for me:

1. Hearing the experiences from other educators and gaining insights from their experiences about the pedagogical approaches that have worked best in their contexts. Considering we are going to be virtual again for (at least) the first two months of this course, I hope this will help me understand the teachers I am responsible for in the IB Diploma Programme as coordinator, with a better understanding of the complexities experienced across the whole school as well.

2. Compassion Fatigue. While we acknowledged this, it was not yet feeling serious enough to address. We were lucky in the first year to escape most of the crisis due to the country staying relatively protected from COVID directly. But now, with Delta variant sweeping through, I think our community will now experience what most people in the US experienced. I am grateful the book for the course has this as the first module.

Intentions/Goals for my learning in this course:

1. Use the effective online learning statements as a model for the IB DP teachers in our first two weeks preparing for online learning.

2. Glean experiences from other teachers experiences with Compassion Fatigue and use this to better understand teachers in our context.

3. Revise several lessons for my AP Seminar course for a better virtual experience. I would like to build in more asynchronous elements for the skills, focus on the formative feedback and regular summative (every 2 weeks). While it only requires one lesson, I hope to use the self-assessment of online teaching to consider how I might create a routine lesson or approach that will give the students a sense of regularity.

4. I like the idea of exploring the “Building a virtual community” for the choice module. I am not sure what that means yet, but I might like to focus on the virtual community of teachers for PD or providing space for educators in our community to connect. Or I might apply it directly to the courses I teach.

How do you predict this course might be valuable to you?
I predict this course will be valuable to me in many ways. Because I am a Digital Learning Specialist, I am very curious about the experiences and needs of diverse educators, students, parents, support staff and administrators across the state regarding remote learning. I want to learn as much as I can about diverse perspectives so I can better support my community. I am curious about the experiences of those in other districts: what worked, what didn't.
What are your intentions/goals for your learning in this course?
I am also here to hone my skills, and I hope to learn more about best practices for technology integration - especially instructional videos, organization tools and other methods for capturing the attention of students in an online learning context!

How do you predict this course might be valuable to you?
I am hoping to learn and borrow ideas from fellow educators! We are all going through this COVID time together, and many of us our struggling in similar ways. Reading about others struggles and what worked for them can be very affirming and valuable. We were all thrust into remote rather quickly and had to learn in the moment, having this time to reflect and sort out what was beneficial can help me improve my teaching as we move forward for in person and possibly more remote teaching down the line.

What are your intentions/goals for learning in this course?
My goal is to become more familiar with online resources/applications that I am not versed in. I want to find ways to get students motivated and engaged through technology, in case we need to go remote again. I need to find a way to manage planning, direct on-line instruction with students and helping students get work completed.
