         <description><![CDATA[<div>The problem of one story becoming all that you know, then therefore it becomes all that you tell. i.e.: 2 group members grew up and attended religious schools. This is the narrative they knew of the world and therefore without broadening horizons, it could become the only story they tell. The question is, is this ok? </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Sharing a single story stops other voices from being heard.<br><br>Sometimes we make constructs and assumptions based on the stories we hear about how teachers should be (ex. stereotype that male teachers teach secondary/intermediate grades; female teachers teach younger grades).<br><br>Understanding that our students come from different backgrounds and that each have their own stories, different from ourselves (ex. things happening at home that are affecting students' learning and motivation in the classroom).</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Personal Story: <br>A lot of pressure was placed around attending school without any regard of how I was feeling. Since I didn't want to be there, I didn't end up doing well. My parents' single story put a lot of pressure on me and it excluded my perceptions. <br>This story effects my teaching as I hope to have a student-entered theory. I want to hear my student's voice rather than pushing an agenda on them. </div>]]></description>

It also doesn't allow the students to form their own opinions.<br>It affects the curriculum with direct implications because the way educators view curriculum is often based off of their own perspectives, which could be a single story.<br>Single stories also affect all aspects of the classroom including the environment, as well as individual students because they are personal to the educator and could have varying degrees of influence depending on the awareness of the educator of their own single story<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Gender conformity is a big issue for us.  We have both had challenges being put into boxes, and we have both experienced other children facing harassment or teasing for behaving in non-conformist ways.    This makes us acutely aware of these issues in our classroom and fuels our desire to teach children about avoiding gender stereotypes.</div>]]></description>

For instance, our group discussed that our age and being younger made our students not take into the perspective that we are still teacher candidates and tend to not always take us as seriously as they do with their actual teacher. This makes it difficult to control the classroom and to take on the role of being the teacher. </div>]]></description>
